Root [CDMA] Stock Rom Question

Are all of the stock ICS roms still based on the leaked Virgin mobile update, or are there any true Sprint stock roms out there? Didn't there used to be a spreadsheet style list of all roms somewhere? I can't seem to find what I'm thinking of.

There is official sprint roms now. Here is a link to all the sprint stock roms.

Is "Shooter" the only one? I couldn't get it to work back when it was the Virgin mobile version. I've been trying again to install it now and the farthest I've gotten is just now where it boot loops at every startup. Prior to that it would just get stuck forever on the HTC loading screen. I don't know why, but my phone just doesn't like it.

Shooter is the only one. These are the official OTA stock roms for sprint.

What hboot is your phone?

Are you s-on or off?

I'm going to guess that this is an issue between GB and ICS. For example if you are on Hboot 1.5 and trying to flash ICS you may need to first flash the ICS base or run an ruu to update to the ICS base before flashing ICS.

Another possibility is your recovery. What recovery are you using? I would recommend switching to 4ext touch recovery if you are using twrp or something.

I'm hboot 1.4, S-Off and Clockwork Mod Recovery. After the boot loop first occurred with Shooter deodex I restored to my last backup (MeanRom ICS, VM version), updated to the newest radios (1.09.00.0706) and tried flashing the odex version of Shooter. It is still boot looping.

It could either be your recovery or that you need all the ICS firmware.
I'm uploading it to my drop box right now. I'll update with a link when it's ready. This will not update your hboot. This will just put you on the 2.89 build.

Also did you do a full wipe and partition all drives (except sd card)?

I don't know why but so many recoveries are causing bootloops with ICS roms. 4ext seems to get rid of that problem.

Oh it's finished. Here is the ICS base

WARNING:
Please read and understand below before doing this step.
Since you cannot boot up your phone do you have an adapter for your micro sd? Or some way of transfering data to/from the card other than with your phone?

If yes:
Rename to PG86IMG.zip and put on the root of your sd card (no folders) reboot into bootloader. When asked to update say yes with volume up.

Normally when doing this, After your phone boots up you immediately rename or delete the file as its presence on your sd card will prevent you from entering into recovery.

So after updating you would have to do a battery pull and then remove the file from your sd card with your computer. Then boot back into recovery and try flashing your rom again.

If you cannot use the computer to place and remove the file I will have to help you flash through fastboot commands...

Thanks, I really appreciate the help. I can transfer the file to the card via my computer because my phone still works properly after restoring to my latest backup. I just can't get the new ROM to take.

As far as if I did a full wipe and partitioned all drives... I 'wiped cache partition' and 'wiped dalvik cache'. At one point I did a 'wipe data/factory reset'. I don't see anything else with regards to partitioning. Does that cover it?

Yep! If you renamed or deleted that file go ahead and try again. If this doesn't work we will try 4ext recovery next.

Okay, I flashed it but oddly enough now I can't get into Recovery. When I choose the Recovery option in Hboot it hoes to the HTC screen, vibrates once, the screen goes black for a second and then it goes through its normal boot process.

Sorry I think I explained it bad. Can you boot up normally? You can't get into recovery until you delete or rename the PG86IMG file...

I can boot up normally but I had deleted the PG86IMG file after flashing it and prior to trying to get into Recovery. As I said, the HTC screen comes up for a minute, then vibrates, then goes black and then boots up into Android. This is all after selecting the Recovery option in Hboot.
