Root Change PRL w/o CDMA workshop

I don't know if this has been posted yet. If it has would one of the MODS plz merge the thread with the original.

Guys this works. I just tried it on my Marquee and it worked like a charm. Just wanted to share this in case any of you can't use CDMA workshop due to the fact that your trail has ran out. ;)

Wow this really works! I'm running CTMod 3.6 and I've been trying to change my PRL for a while now with CDMA workshop. Thanks!

Glad it worked 4 you. Monster was nice enough to help me out and show me where this thread was. Thx Monster.

This won't work on CTMod for the Marquee. I had to switch back to MarkyBeats in order to change mine then re-flash CTMod. Nice to hear that it works on CTMod for the Prevail.

So much for needing CDMA Workshop. :D:D

ok so far I found that running CT 3.6, you have to enable Monsters DM script, then it will show up in the diagnostic section as "SAMSUNG Android USB Diagnostic Port". otherwise is will just show up as "SAMSUNG USB Modem" under modems. I can get the port open, then enter msl and click the blue button but it just sits in the log as "searching device". really trying to avoid flashing a different ROM, so i shall continue on. thats what I got so far.

Most likely yes, switch to a different rom and switch back.

I had the exact same thing happen with mine. Maybe somebody could whip up some Prevail instructions if they get it working:confused:

Just a heads up for those of you that are having trouble getting it to work on CTMod. I was running CTMod 3.6.5 on my Marquee and it wouldn't work. I had to switch to Marky Beats (stock based ROM) in order for it to work. All I did was make a CWM backup, flash a stock based ROM change prl then flash my CWM backup. The entire process took less than 15 minutes and now I have a new prl that boosted my signal and 3g speed.

For those of you running the Prevail and are having trouble, try flashing CTMod 2.5 or the Half Ass ROM then try these steps. Also, I didn't even need to put my phone in DL mode. I just plugged it and choose my phone from the list then entered my MSL in the SPC box then proceeded to change the prl. I do not know exactly what steps you guys will need to take in order to get this working on the Prevail, I just wanted to let everyone know that there is an alternative to the CDMA Workshop demo.

For those of you that have gotten this to work on the Prevail, plz write up a TUT for those that follow so they'll know how to get this working on the Prevail. Thanks

I got the lil dude taking a nap now, so Im going to attempt to change the prl with flashing to half ass rom. If all goes well, Ill throw up a tutorial while giving credit to the OP in the Warp forum.

EDIT: Ok, I got it working. Just follow the instructions in the post that Wetbiker linked to. The only things different for the Prevail are switch to a Rom that allows the ##7678# code to go into DM Mode, and when you get to the part about double clicking, only one thing should be listed under the Diagnostics part. Thats what you double click on. After double clicking, that window can be closed out, otherwise you cant enter info on the other tabs. Other than that, I just followed the instructions and everything went smooth. When done you can restore the original Rom you were using in CWM.

Now its a matter of figuring out which Sprint PRL works in my area. If anybody has an idea what works good for the Milwaukee area, let me know. I tried PRL 11114 and I didnt really see an improvement.

Thank you Sir for taking the time to post the steps that are need for this to work on the Prevail. As for a good prl, have you tried 12121 ? It actually increased my signal and 3g. ;)

Later Im going to try 11115 and then Ill try 12121. The program is a lot easier IMO than CDMA WS. The only real "pain" is figuring out which PRL to use. I flashed the Half Ass Rom, went into DM mode, changed the PRL, flashed back to CTmod in under 15mins. Just remember to always do a wipe in CWM when flashing new Roms. If someone doesnt beat me to it, Ill put up a real tut later tonight:D

this talks about the ZTE. does anyone have a step by step for the prevail? never mind. my eyes are open now. lol

FYI. Norton is flagging cdmatool.com as a malicious web site.:(

Malicious Web Site Blocked

You attempted to access:
Download CDMA Tool DFS software.

This is a known malicious web site. It is recommended that you do NOT visit this site. The detailed report explains the security risks on this site.

For your protection, this web site has been blocked.

I trust Kaspersky over Norton any day and Kaspersky Internet security says it's clean. Google Chrome says it's clean too. Many many people have used this and if it were malicious it would have been reported by someone that has been using it. Also when I click on the link for a detailed report it says Page not found. One of the reasons I quit using Norton was that it gives way 2 many false positives not to mention the resources it takes to run.

I'm not knocking you for running Norton so please don't take my comment that way. This is just my opinion.

Was successful in doing this. I just switched to Sprint's newest prl 12123 (which I think I got from XDA), but I see no big improvements.

I am originally from NY/CT area but I'm currently out of town working in the DC/VA area. Anyone getting any better signals with certain prls? Hit me up if so.

Anyhow, this way seems to be the most efficient way to write new prls!

Glad it worked for you. I use 12121 and have great results w/ it but others have not. Here's a few to choose from if you would like to give them a try.
