Root Changing Font

Ok, now that I'm all into this root thing, one more question.
How do I change fonts to different size and style?

I'm Midnight senseless, and I tried it. Nothing changes. I've used it to try to change the boot animation, the font and the battery icon to a different color. Nothing is changing after rebooting.

dont know about font... know the battery icons dont work.. but for themes...
download the theme...
dont install...
then go to the rom toolbox folder on your sdcard
locate the boot animation you downloaded...
move that to system/customize/resources
rename it to bootanimation.zip...
then it should work...

"you cannot paste here because the file system is a read only" is the message I get when I tried to move it.

ah... ok... take a deep breath...
this is assuming you are using root browser
- long press the system folder
- press permissions
- memorize or write down what is checked..
- now change what is checked
- in the first row, read and write should be checked
- in the second row, read should be checked
- in the third row, read should be checked
- now do the rest of the steps from my previous instructions...
- after you are done, change the permissions of system back to what they were before...

I am using Root Explorer.
When I long press the system folder, it says "system permissions cannot be changed because the file system is read only".

I noticed that the mount was set to r/w, and I changed it to r/o.
But after I got the screen pop up like you said, and did those checks, I got this: "Permissions change was not successful. Please note that some file systems (e.g SD card) do not allow permissions changes".

not sure... im kinda in between doin two things... something happening at home... im sorry... ill come back in an hour... see if you can hunt down one of the guides

for the system folder permissions, check off xecute for all 3 rows...
but before that.. try changing the bootanimation without changing system folder permissions...
i've seen users run into the mount prob before... forgot how they handled it... never had such a prob... was always able to change and move things to and from the system folder without any error messages...

Ok, I got what you meant, and got it to move into the right folder without changing the permissions. I renamed it bootanimation.zip, but when I rebooted the phone, the same one played.

okay... at least we have that... now what are the permissions of the bootanimation.zip... they should be
read write
read
read

first line...nothing
second line....all 3 boxes checked
third line....1st,3rd boxes checked

change to
first line ---> first two boxes
second line ----> first box
third line ---> first box

ps... if your going to move anything to the system folder, this is what the permissions should usually be set 2...

Still same animation.
I'm wondering if I should move the one thats playing to some other folder, say the root toolbox, where the one I want to play came from.

rename the old file to bootanimation.zip.bak
that way if anything fails, you can restore the old animation...

downloading midnights to see whats diff... using senseless version of mobster and following my own steps above, my animation changed and worked perfectly...
