Changing RADIO

I have read on various threads that changing the radio can affect how well the phone receives. I also have read that what radio you use that the phones performance can vary from area to area. I live in southeast MASS and was wondering if anyone has experimented with this.

Also I was looking for a specific tutorial on how to change the radio but have not found one.

I have 4.0.4 with UVLH1 radio. Any info would be helpful

Hi bfranc. To flash a radio, you would have to be rooted. Here is a guide for rooting if you decide you want to do that. There is a link in the All Things Root Guide for all the compatible radios. The UVLE1 radio is here. You would flash a radio in recovery just like you would a rom, except you don't have to wipe first.

Thanks Atmazzz I rooted my phone no problem and found a big difference using UVLE1 radio. It was much better with speed test. I am hoping it also fixes my dropping call issue!

I'm using cyanogen 10, and find that my signal has improved since I flashed it.

I have never found any difference with different radios and I have tried all of them (funny enough) (or sadly enough). Currently running a CM 10 nightly and not bad at all - at work I get 20 MB/s DOWNLOAD OMG that is better than my 3 MB/s home internet.
