Root Changing the Lock Screen

Brian Rubin

Android Enthusiast
Hey y'all, now that I've rooted, is there any way to change the useless lock screen on the EVO to something more useful without having to use buggy programs which eventually fail such as WidgetLocker or MyLock Pro?

Thanks for the link. Yeah, WL worked great for a while, then just went kinda batshit crazy.

he has made several enhancements over the last month. I have also received great response from him when emailing him about specific issues

Ohhh, okay, I don't recall their being an actual update to it, but I'll give it a whirl again. Love the program when it works. :) Thanks!

oh wow yeah there have been several...depending on how long you have been using it. It was one of the first apps I got and was my first paid app

vote for widget locker!

I have never used widget locker so I can't speak for or against it. However, here is where I would go if I wanted to switch my lockscreen (and I have a few times).

[COLLECTION] Lock Screen MODS [UPDATED 8/4] - xda-developers

Or, if you just want the vanilla lock screen I believe this should work:

adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/HtcLockScreen*
adb reboot.

or go to [THEME]▄ █ ▄ LowRider ▄ █ ▄ Theme [Sense] v2.7 UPDATED 11/7/2010 - xda-developers and download the "remove lockscreen" mod and then flash that and that will leave you with the vanilla lockscreen - my favorite.

Good luck.
