Root Changing the Splash Screen?

I have searched for this, and everything I found was specific to other phones.

I currently run Velocity 1.0, and I definitely have nothing against the current VELOCITY splash screen, but I would like to have something a little more... "personal" and "unique" to me.

Is there anyway to create and install my own splash screen?

And yes, I mean splash screen, not boot animation.

I don't know how to change the Velocity one but if your interested in changing the LG one this is how i did it. I'm sure there is probably an easier way to do this also.

Anyways, heres the steps of how I did it:
1. Make a NAND backup on your phone
2. Download on your computer Death2Alls frunisher 1.0 rom here
3. Unzip it and and locate the frunisher_bootsplash disk image file
4. Also download this splash screen creator and unzip the contents into a folder on your computer
5. Put the bitmap file (with .bmp extension) that you want to convert into a splash screen into that same folder
6. The bitmap image MUST be 480*800 or bad things could happen
7. Name the bitmap file

well i cant help you changfe it buti THINK the big gray velocity screen is part of the recovery.img so you would have to edit that.

Doing it the way above is dangerous. Safest way is to pack it into an IMG file and verify that the img file is exactly 750 KB (768,032 bytes) but the only way to do that is via linux. the image you use MUST be bmp and must be 400*800px

and yes the big grey velocity image you see when goin into recovery is in fact part of the recovery image. thats why frunisher has the amon_ra 1.2.5 in it. taht and because the power menu was made for amon_ra recovery and not clockworkmod

The way you worded that... It makes it seem like the big grey velocity image is ONLY there when going to Recovery mode.. It shows every time for me?

Anyway, could you maybe give me a step-by-step process of how to check the file size in linux, and then tell me how to actually put it on the phone?

Also, could be any version of linux? Like, could I do it from Ubuntu running from a live CD?
