Changing the statusbar color

This is one of the things that I have really been wanting. I was questioning rooting my phone.... Guess it is time to take the plunge.
 
UPDATE: gcroberson and I have figured out how to change the color of the statusbar. I am compiling a how-to right now. Be forewarned, though, there are a TON of steps involved. It definitely is not a quick process.
 
I did the transparent one. I like it, much better than the grey (it didn't go with my theme).

I have edited the first post as a how-to. If anyone has anything to add to it that they have found to be wrong, of something they have discovered along the way that pertains to this... let me know and it will be added.
 
Awesome great work. Can't wait to see what some people can do with this. I'm not talented enought to change everythig myself but I can install what people already did.
 
I got it up and running and it looks nice! Fits in much better with the Droid design than the white bar.

Had to resign into my Google and Facebook accounts though. Had to rejoin some of my contacts, but not too big a hassle.
 
I found one more request I can email off to the GDE dev now. His background doesn't cover the whole screen. :/

How do I know? My Transparent taskbar. :D

These pictures are of the same statusbar... the only thing that changed between the two sets was the default home / gde home.

To everyone else... If you are having trouble getting the commands to go through, make sure your phone is still in Debug mode.

Menu>Settings>Applications>Development>USB Debugging

I'd include that in my first post, but for some reason, I can't edit that post anymore. Maybe a mod could do it?
 
If anyone is interested I modded it so everything is default but the window shade is slightly transparent.

anyone want me to upload it?
 
wouldnt it be like adding other apps like themes and stuff into the market for downmloading, just in description say you need root access. if not is there other ways i can get ahold of the themed status bar and install it,



how do i add a screen shot in my reply,lol
