Help Changing tones for text messaging on Skyrocket

Does anyone have any idea how to change the tone for text messages on Skyrocket. It keeps making whistling sounds when getting texted and I absolutely have no clue how to change it. Please help.
 
How did you change it? I have the same problem. I get the stupid whistle for every text, but I have another tone assigned for my notifications. It plays the correct tone for my emails.

First time on an android, please help. Thanks!

I've been able to change the tones for IM's and Notifications, but not for emails, which on mine is set at the "bell ring" tone and drives me nuts.

Been looking thru the manual, but can't find a thing.

Are you using the stock app or gmail

Stock:
Open email app

Menu.more.account settings and go to notification settings.

Thanks but I don't get the "account settings" with the "more" selection in email, I get "Font Size" and "preview line"...that's it.
 
Just got the phone a few days ago cant change the whistle tone for the messages but i can change the other notification tones anyone know how to change it plz help.
 
I just made a change to my notifications so that I could have my favorite songs play when I receive e-mails, texts and fB mails from friends. E-mail and fB notifications are working, but text messages are still using the standard phone equipped sounds.

Changing the notifications made no change to text messages...:(
Maybe I am doing it wrong???
 
- open up your text messaging app
- hit home key
- settings
- select ringtone.

you can have a different ringtone for phonecall and messages. I have bottle opener for phone calls and whistle for text messages

The should include gallaxy icons in this forum to use as visuals.
