Root Channel Sid

4257530a-eae7-0ab4.jpg
and I'm using prl 61687

HowStuffWorks "Cell Phone Codes" im thinking that the sid if changed would provide better signal possibly has anyone else looked into this

I read that earlier this morning. looks like SID is just a network identifier.
and channel is just what your phone is listening to for a call to come in.
Neither seem particularly interesting, unless you really want to be sure that you're roaming.

They will apparently change throughout the day as you move around.
Probably good info to keep with speed tests so you can compare the time of day with the tower info you ran the test on

i tried changing the sid but it didnt work. i know theres a file in in stock roms where you can change the channel. its called persist.sys.channel. it is located in /data/property/ mines set to 75. i had my phone connected to cdma workshop and i had it on monitor and the channel changed as the signal strength changed. you could also try doing to the NAM tab, select nam1, read, change where it says system to standart, and then write it is by default set to home only. i seem to get a better signal.

Can you change it in root explorer and my channel is 575 yours is just 75

No the nam1 to system can that be changed in root explorer

not that i know of. you need cdma workshop.

i dont know if the same happens with you guys but when ever i wake up my from from standby the signal is pretty strong and then it drops very low. could there be a process running that is affecting the signal strength? its weird that the signal is so low when inside a building.

Just north of you. Schr with same numbers no matter what prl I got. If I go up to NY state or east on 80 it switches to channel 650/4162. I only get true 3g on 650. Weird.

I read somewhere that 4162 is the NYC Sid and 4160 is Philly. Might have been the baTonrougue broadband page.

Bay area CA
Ch 50
Sid 4183
Same on all prls

Went to SLC Utah and it change to 75 and whatever they Sid there was

I have never took notice if mine changes when I travel I will look next time I think were on to something here tho oh well time to get my lucky charms

someone on the prevail no rooted forum said this and wonder if would be good to try while on 2.5 or 1/2 ass
Increased 3g speeds by changing

Home orig. vocoder = 13k

Home page vocoder = wild

roam orig. vocoder = 13k

3g speeds went to an average 0f 230-290kbps download to 600-980kbps and uploads from 80-150kbps up to 480-650kbps

Enter settings from dial pad ##3282# enter msl, select edit [enter msl] select advanced and change vocoder settings

Mine has changed in travels, but its not like it switches every time I switch a tower. Like I said, I got channel 650 up in binghamton and out in NJ on 80 and I know they obviously cant be the same tower.
