Check out this thorough review. Accurate??

This reviewer rips into the G3 pretty hard and somewhat convincingly, particularly over the display.

How true does this ring to folks who have experience with the phone so far?

It's inaccurate. If you look at Erica's video, while she's moving the slider, you can see how what I mentioned (in the dedicated display brightness thread I started) is true. While on auto-brightness, the slider can be moved up and down (but it doesn't automatically turn the auto-brightness toggle off). If you de-toggle the check mark for Auto-brightness, the display brightness is significantly brighter.

How about her observations on the over sharpening and color?

I'm not the biggest critique of that, so I can't really say if that is really "true." For me, as long as a device doesn't show pixelation that qhd (note: lower case q, not Qhd), then I'm typically fine with it. That's why I didn't really comment on that part of it. Battery life, I'd say she's pretty accurate on that, based on what I've seen so far. My Note 2 before, and current Note 3 both have better battery life, but not by a huge margin.

I am amazed by the so-called reviewers inability to uncheck the darn checkmark.

I am also amazed by so many people reporting the bad sunlight visibility.

Thanks G-d we've got drexappeal. :)

Yeah, if you are going to post a review of phone brightness, you would think you would test out all options first... Lazy... unless they knew what happens when you unchecked the box, and decided it wasn't worthy of being included in the review, in which case you have to wonder which other manufacturer they work for, or at least are a fan of.

Can it be so?
Can it?
Really?

:D

That review is a few weeks old with a Korean unit. Not sure this is a hack review since they actually do lab tests, which is a lot better than the comically superficial reviews that make generic statements about battery life and the display quality. Subjective comedy and not just this device.

If reputable reviews sites like Anandtech are treated with indifference if not what folks want to read, just buy the device and test it out yourself :) Your perception of a good display and your own use may differ with a review and be more positive.

It is just a (like all devices) soon to be outdated piece of current technology :)
