Help CL14 Over the Web??

Just updated the wifes phone a few hours ago. Piece of cake. So I've updated/configured 2 phones in about 20 mins each and I completely don't get why the Sprint techs couldn't figure this crap out on day one.

Because there was no installer like this available. They used completely different software to do the update. The reason it took longer to get the OTW update out was for them to develop this installer to do it at home.

If they were using the Odin program, then I must say I still wonder why they were having so many issues with the update.

My computer wouldn't let me update it, wouldn't recognize my phone after I erased the drive - kept saying drive error. I've rebooted the phone & comp multiple times to no avail.

SO I go to the store which is 35 minutes away, and after waiting for an hour, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T UPDATE MY PHONE BC OF SOME UPDATE THAT THEY NEED. Thanks for wasting my time and making me late for work....

But what do I do abt updating my phone???? :(

I suspect 64-bit users will never get it to work. I haven't been able to do anything more than mount my SD card on my Win7 64-bit machine.

AFAIK, Samsung's drivers do not work on 64-bit systems.

To do anything else (install zefie's files, use phone as modem, etc.) I need to borrow my GF's 32-bit XP laptop.

I had ben hoping that this update would work on Win7 64-bit, but it sounds like your experience means it will not. :(

Well I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and it worked perfectly and i'm up and running . Maps have definetly improved alot :)

rahjawn, this is going to make me feel stupid for asking this... but did you try running the update (download the update file here) after you un-installed the drivers for it? Or have you not un-installed the original drivers yet?

I kept checking all day yesterday, right before noon EST I was able to download onto my work computer (Windows 7 64 bit). Downloaded onto my phone the first time, took another 20 mins to download the free apps and get my other things backed. Sync'd back up with google and my contacts etc with no problem.

Came home onto HP laptop with Vista and did hubby's phone, 1st try again all is well.

Battery meter definitely working better, like the new layout of calendar and email, so far so good and EVEN HAPPIER with my moment!

I did the update and it went smoothly... but now my voicemail app keeps forcing close. Any one else have this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks

Try doing a hard reset. After I updated to cl14 my data connection locks and when I try to make a call the whole phone locks and the battery needs to be pulled to reset the phone. I didn't get this problem with stock cj05. This is ridiculous I think my next phone won't be a samsung.

if my phone is presently rooted, will this undo everything I did , like get rid of crap apps etc...will i lose contacts?

The comptuer I was on didn't have a drive on there it was just restored (the comp, I'll try again when I get back on campus today...

What'd you do to get it to work?? I've tried more than 10,

I uninstalled the program then restarted the computer. Then I reinstalled the program, waited for the drivers to install and then tried the program again. And it worked on the 5th try. I didn't do anything else on the computer while the drivers were installing.

does this update wipe my phone where I will lose everything unless I backup?

If you read the instructions on the update you'll get your answer.

Please note the following:
You will now see a warning screen that data not synchronized will be deleted. It is important that you back up your data before moving forward.

Note: If you have signed in to a Gmail account and allowed the synchronization with Gmail to continue, the following items will be restored once you sign back in to your Gmail account:
Google Contacts
Google Calendar
Purchased applications can be re-downloaded
Google emails

The SD card is NOT erased during the upgrade process. The following items are stored on the SD card:
Music
Moves and Videos
Pictures
Some application data (not all depends on application)
Saved email attachments

I just did mine last night. Worked really well for me (1st try). The hardest part was uninstalling the drivers I had on there previously. Had to get a program just to get them off my computer.(used revo pro) Had a problem installing them before when I was trying to root my phone. I'm using windows 7 64-bit by the way. Before I did the update I used Astro app manager to back up my apps. Then I used Sprite back-up to back up my system settings (mms, sms, call log, system settings, application settings). So then I followed the instructions for the update and it took less than 10 minutes to update my phone. After it was done I reinstalled astro from the market and restored all my apps. You have to go to settings/applications and check mark unknown sources before you can install from there. You still have to install them one at a time but it's 10 times faster than searching the market for your apps again. The apps won't show up on your downloads on the market though. So then download a program called aTrackDog from the market. This program checks the version of all your apps on your phone and tells you if it has an update. Once you update an app with atrackdog it will show up on the market downloads again. So after a while they'll all be back on the market downloads page. After installing my 40 or so apps in less than 5 minutes I restored my system settings with sprite. After the restore Phone looked almost like it was before i updated. All my shortcuts and picture frames were where I left them. I had to put all my widgets back on the desktop though but no biggy. App setting need to be reconfigured though which is the worst part. All my contacts and calendar events came back once I signed in to gmail. I use ringo pro and I have to redo all my ring tones again. Think I'll wait on that just in case they roll out with the android 2.1 tomorrow like I've heard in another thread so I don't have to do it all over again. All in All I think this whole ordeal (minus the ringtone thing) took less than 45 minutes. Since I've had my moment I've had to reset it 3 times because of a tombstone thing (couldn't figure it out, think that was caused by my htc keyboard app). Plus I'm on my 3rd moment because of a bootloop problem (got stuck at the android screen, think that was because of sweeter home preview 2). Still love my moment though and still using htc keyboard cause I love that app. Not using sweeter home anymore though. So I've gotten pretty good at reinstalling all my crap since I've done it 5 stinking times. Well I'll stop rambling now, just thought maybe I could maybe someone out an make this ordeal go as smooth for them as it went for me. I'm sure there's someone out there with a better way and I would love to hear it if there willing to share or maybe I missed it on an earlier post.

thanks for listening

So i got the download to work.... but it keeps getting stuck/stalling at 86%... the bottom right thing says [debug] GetCompleteAck...
What's that? and/or what do i do?

Anyone having trouble with the phone staying "awake" now after the update? I noticed my battery drained quite a bit today and I hadn't even used it much, so I checked spare parts, and Android System had 100% wake time. So, I rebooted the phone, let it sit for a while, and checked spare parts again, and still 100% wake time for Android System.

Edit: Turning off network location seemed to fix it.

Yeah, it is the GPS. Glad you found the fix. With location enabled I got about 8hrs battery life, with it off, easily 16-18 hours.
