Root Clarification on Backups

So, I have made a few backups via Titanium Backup and Rom Manager, but I am not exactly sure what I am backing up. I want to verify how much work I will need to do if I explore a custom ROM and decide to revert back to Blur.

From what I have read in the guides, the RM backs up the system as a whole and TB backs up the data used by each application. Is this correct?

Is there anything that these two combined would not restore? Do they also backup home screen layouts? Do they restore system settings and settings within applications?

rom manager and bootstrap will back up everything ,,,if you restore a nandroid it will restore to exactly how your x was ,,,apps ,data homescreen layout etc,,,,titanium backs up app and or app data ,,,just b careful restoring app data with tibu sometimes it can cause problems ;)

Be careful restoring Data with Clockworkmod Recovery, especially between different rom builds (Blur, Blurless (AOSP)).

I just restore Apps and app Data when restoring between a rom without Blur to a Blur rom. The only System data I restore with TB are Browser Bookmarks and Bluetooth Pairing.
