Root Cleaning out my phone?

Good Evening Optimus V Users,

I'm currently ruinning CM7.2.0 Backside IHO and Bobzhome kernel 2.6.32-v3.7 I don't know if you guys need all the info but I figure it's best to give it. My question is how do I do a clean wipe on my phone? I made the mistake of formatting my SD card so I no longer have a backup of my stock rom. I don't want to go back to my stock rom but just wanted to let you guys know. I want to keep CM7 and simply do I system restore so to speak. Just clean out everything I can and start fresh with JUST the rom and the kernel... if that makes sense. What is the proper way to do this? Oh and is there a kernel that runs better with CM7? I have had alot of issues with ADW launcher force closing and am not sure if using a different kernel may help. If you suggest a different kernel how do I go about installing it? Thank you for your help.

Well if you just want the rom, download the rom onto your sd card, and flash it while in recovery. That should also install the kernel that was built for the rom. Does that help?

First thing to do is make a backup in the recovery so when something bad happens (it happens even to us seasoned members), you will have something to fall back on until you get it straightended out.
The tvall kernel worked for me with the BACKside ROM.
If you look in the All Things Root Guide sticky; in the 6th guide you will find the instructions for a clean wipe and a fresh install.
Once you get all the aps downloaded and everything set up just how you want it, download App Tyrant and Titanium backup. Once all you apps are backed up on titanium and all your apk's are saved as well all you need to do is transfer the data to a folder on the PC.

Every now and then add to it any additions or changes.

Download the version of the ROM you plan to use and place it in /mnt/sdcard/
Reboot into recovery
Wipe cache
advanced -> wipe dalvik
mounts and storage:
format boot
format cache
format data
format system
Go back to the main menu
install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard -> highlight your rom.zip

Once installation is complete reboot system

(the following instructions are for CWM Recovery v3.2.0.1, steps may be slightly different for other recoveries.)
