Root Click rooting your LG Optimus Elite

off-topic and then quickly back on topic..put a little white zombies boogieman to that vm boot animation,then its tolerable lol. as for step by step on first page(not bad idea),but ive always just copied/pasted to txt doc and saved to pc for later reference. saves time.

The Gods have shined happiness upon us and giantpune released his rooting app, the ease of which renders all other current methods outdated and too difficult. Try out his app, it's way faster and less prone to computer/driver/setup problems :)

I've waited weeks to get this to work; figured the new post on 9/4 would fix my issues and I really thought it had until I ran the program. Everything looked fine; program finished, phone rebooted 2 times but no rooted apps will run and 'root checker' says NOT ROOTED

Since the program did NOT give me any errors and did was it said it would, NOW what do I do??

Please, somebody help me figure this out. Super User told me nothing so I downloaded the SU Update fixer and ran it; it said 'failed to acquire root; device not rooted'

So what do I do now?? Go through all of it again?? I am not a programmer but have been an android user for years and have never had such trouble rooting a phone. Is it the phone? me? Windows 7? I turned off all antivirus so it wouldn't interfere. Got the drivers installed no problem; no errors anywhere. Even before the 9/4 update all of my files were where they were supposed to be correctly named, etc. but i replaced them with the 9/4s just to be sure.

Please please please somebody help me figure this out before this phone goes out the window! I don't want to attempt the entire process again unless it's the only way. At this point, I would be willing to TeamView it just to get it over with.

Can someone help me please?
 
And just for fun and giggles (and because I am very frustrated) I did the entire process again a minute ago. NO ERRORS.

and still no root either

You might have a symlink to a weird place, that's what my pone had and I was able to use the program with no errors, but supruser wasn't working.

Try the pooter.apk that giantpune put up a few days ago. Its easier, and it has a button to check for a faulty symlink. Consider this method outdated.

And try to be more understanding(nicer) when explaining your problems. I can assure you, I didn't put the click root program together just to piss you off.

I apologize if I seemed snippy. Without the work of people like you, we wouldn't have root and I have thanked you several times. That doesn't make it any easier for people like me to read of successes others are having when mine won't work. I have waited for two months to get this phone to root; trying over and over and it is more than frustrating. To never see errors and to also not have it work is maddening. Especially when I have rooted half a dozen other kinds of androids over the years and never had this much difficulty. Obviously, it isn't your work because it works fine for others; your work is great; thank you again. It's me or the phone or Window7 or something nobody has found yet.
And if I couldn't throw a fit every now and then, I wouldn't be a very good blond now, would I? LOL

Ummm, ok. I have gone back through the old posts. Where is the 'pooter.apk' file?? I can't find any post of GPs with it. If you mean the 9/4 update on the first page of the thread, these were the files I downloaded and used for my root attempts and I don't see that file in the platform tools.

What am I missing? Am I not looking in the correct place?

Thanks to giantpune, you don't need to use a computer any longer. The rooting process is all done from your phone with two apps (APK files).
 
Hi everyone, my optimus elite is stock in a boot loop after trying to root using this method. I went through all the steps, installed lg drivers, extracted files to android folder in c:/ drive, run the Click Root app as administrator and followed all the steps. I got to the last step when it says that the phone will reboot twice and it will be rooted. It rebooted once, and it stayed on the splash screen, then it rebooted again, and again, and again. I took the battery out and try rebooting with no luck. This is my wife's phone and when she finds out that I broke it she is gonna kill me, please help!!!

Update: I was able to get rid of boot loop by going into recovery and doing a factory/data reset.

Update;

Since rooting this weekend I have been having a daily issue; my phone is rebooting 3 times per day (i only know because i hear it after the fact) and when it comes back up, it's trying to download that stupid ID program from Virgin which fails every time it tries. Is this happening to anyone else?? How do you stop it from happening? The rebooting everyday is not so nice to deal with.

Any ideas?

I followed the direction but this is what came up:

First computer was a Texas Instruments 99-4. I have never seen software execute as flawlessly as Poot.

Hello mine did the same thing!! I downloaded superuser I had to click on the su binary then my su binary said v3.0.3.2 (15) and right underneath it in green it says -rwsr-sr-x root root /system/xbin/su then the superuser finally granted permission to my set cpu app and others! hope you have luck with this ;)
 
I'm having trouble getting past step one. It's still trying to locate my device. The drivers are installed, and it appears correctly on properties on my computer.
Here is what I have so far:

Let's just say that between your manuals and some other sources, my virgin mobile optimus elite is successfully rooted via the one click method.

I had some confusing moments....(I thought I had to establish a new file and subfile in DOS....and later realized it could all be accomplished in Windows 7). I had confusion as to whether to initiate tasks on the phone or computer....and did not directly have the "android" file unzipped into the tools directory....but copied it...and that caused setbacks till i erased the unzipped files in the wrong directory. (And you did caution again and again regarding proper directories). I also had failed to properly disable and remove the micro s/d card...mucked around with that several times....unsure if it had a card in
it or not in the run that worked. I also believe that disabling my protective software helped. At any rate....the deed is done and verified....Now it's on to learn how to maximize my phone and what apps and capabilities I should establish.....Again....Major thanks!
