I just tried to update my Connect.. Here is the output

I then tried to reboot into recovery with rom manager, and it just rebooted as normal.

I thought that I missed something, and tried it again

This time when I tried to reboot into recovery with rom manager, it just shut off. I had to pull the battery to get it to boot up.

Any suggestions?

I did not hit the power or volume buttons.

try using quickboot or terminal emulator with the following command

su
reboot recovery

as stated in teh earlier posts 1411+0 records in
1411+0 records out
5779456 bytes transferred in 2.113 secs (2735189 bytes/sec)
means it install, so your all set and its on there, just need to get into it now :)

Thanks, that did the trick.

If I click on any option in ROM Manager, it warns that I need to install CWM, is this normal? I am newbie to androids. If I choose to backup current ROM, it show the Esteem, but not the Connect.

Never mind, I had an issue.

Great tutorial.... Helped me BIG TIME after I soft bricked my phone :mad: and had to reload my entire OS from LG LoL.... Anyway i was a little sketchy about Rooting again but I did anyway and then SERIOUSLY sketched out about doing the CWM but figured I'd give it a try since you posted this THANK YOU BIG TIME!!!!:D:D:D

Can't wait for CUSTOM ROMS!!!!

Speaking of which does anybody know if they've made any Custom Roms or where I would go to check??? I keep going to the All Things Rooted sticky to check but the CUSTOM ROM's link is never activated......

Also I deleted/uninstalled a TON of programs and wanted to post what I did so other people could do it if they wanted too.... I removed tons of bloatware and ended up removing some stuff that was eating into my RAM....

Long Story short I now have acces to 615 Mb of RAM :D:D:D

I installed Cwm with success .. Except it was not clear on here to take charge mode off and put on internet connection after usb debuging. Took me 20 min to figure it out. After that it worked great with no problem...I'am new at this so maybe this was a mistake on my part >> maybe i was suspose to know this..But i did research it alot before attempting tho. Thanks to shabbypenguin for the Cwm file :)

How do u unroot and remove cwm jus incase i need to bring this phone back to metro lol

using something like root explorer or similar you can go in and mount the system as r/w and remove the xbin folder and then superuser from /system/app and su from /system/bin

that will unroot ya completely :)

Why is it that whenever I try to backup my ROM CWM freezes while backing up the system. It freezes on "libchromatix_mt9p012_ar.so" anyone know why?

EDIT: nvm i tried again and it worked

How do I go about uninstalling CWM from my phone? It's not letting me make a backup I've tried several times multiple ways with no luck and since we don't even have a rom yet and cwm is still temperamental I don't want it in my phone. And before you say it, no the LG updater TOOL will not work on my phone, so plz don't suggest that..

the issues some people are having are self inflicted, dont use the hardware keys as mention. my bet on that is it starts up realizes that cwm is not stock and freezes there, we have a way to fix anyone who feels teh need to keep doing it

post 8 explains what happened

then in post 13, someone does it right after hearing about someone getting fixed

in post 25, we have someone again doing it.... in post 29 yet another person doing it... and in 30 we have someone who cant figure out how to bootloop his phone.

pl4life actually had it so bad that his phone was all sorts of screwed

to the point that k0nane had to step in and post in big red letters that you shouldnt use those buttons to get into cwm.

so far teh only bug ive seen is people having issues with backing up data, some get it working fine, some get it after clearing cache, ithers just have issues with it overall. regardless thats one actual bug id consider worthwhile and there is NOTHING i can do about it.

First, like so many have said, gotta give props to Shabbypenguin and k0nane for all their great work on this. Obviously, there are plenty of folks like me who are having issues too. I'm grateful that there does seem to be a suitable CWM build for the Connect, which was made possible by all that hard work. It seems to me the issue isn't lack of technical possibility to install/run CWM on the Connect, right now there is need for more clearly outlined instructions for the masses -- which includes me. The person referenced who did something and got it fixed actually got it back to stock -- but there is no mention that they actually got CWM to work, and no mention of how they even got it back to stock.

What would be helpful to me and possibly others, and yeah I guess I'm basically just a script kiddie here, is more clarity about how to do this successfully. One thing that confuses me is the mention of putting it in recovery mode, my understanding is the Connect has no recovery mode.

And, by now, we get it -- don't press no buttons. So, what are we to do exactly? I can see why ya'll might get defensive, but people aren't being stupid when they screw this up and it's not fair to say that. With so many people being thrown into bootloop, there is a legitimate issue here. It might not be technical, its more pedagogical. So, I hope ya'll will take this comment in the positive spirit it is intended, understand I acknowledge and appreciate your hard work, and that also that there is a need for better instructions on how to use your tool. IMHO.
