Root Clockwork Reading Eris Partition on Incredible

I just rooted my Incredible. I got the Incredible as a replacement for my Eris. When I was rooted with the Eris, I had Amon-Ra recovery, and now with the Incredible I have Clockwork, which I am unfamiliar with.

When I got the Incredible, I didn't format the SD card (like a dummy) and the Incredible partitioned it.

I put my ROM .zip file on the Incredible partition. Went into recovery, did a back up, did a data and cache wipe, and when I went to flash the ROM, Clockwork was reading the Eris partition, and of course, the ROM was not on there, so I did a restore and here I am.

Can I just put the ROM on the Eris partition and flash from there? Will it install and boot properly? Or should I just pull all the data and reformat the SD card?

I just moved from an Eris to a DInc a few days ago, so I'm by NO means an expert on the DInc. However I'm using the same SDcard that I had in my Eris and it's only got one partition - I'm not sure how yours ended up with a second partition.
I'd say you should copy all the data from the SD card and partition it all as Fat32.
BTW, because both partitions are usable I'm assuming that one of these is NOT an Ext partition you created to use apps2sd on one of the 2.1 ROMs. I picture this as your computer sees 2 new drives when you connect the phone to the PC - is that what it's doing?

Yes. When I plug the phone in, it seems that there are actually 3 partitions. One reads CD drive (E: )Verizon Mobile, one says removable disk (F: ) and one says removable disk (G: ).

When I mount as disk drive, I can browse folders in F and G. All files on the F drive have my Eris data and the G drive has the Incredible stuff.

I have no problem saving all the files and partitioning (easy stuff), and there is no need for all the Eris info to be on there... BUT since that was the main partition I don't know if anything from the Incredible got installed there.

And no, I did not create a Ext partition for apps2sd.

Gonna take a stab here and guess that (E) is the redirect to the Verizon website that we all dealt with when first loading 2.2 and hooking up the phone to the PC via USB.

The other 2 drives are your SD card and the internal storage which show up as separate drives on this phone. Perhaps you placed your ROM on the internal storage the first time around? It needs to be placed on the SD card, that is where Clockwork will load it from.

I'm thinking you may not have an SD card with multiple partitions after all.

If the (E) drive turns out to be the Verizon Vcast deal, you can get rid of it for good by deleting CDROM.ISO in /system/etc using Root Explorer in read/write mode.

Good deal. I just got rid of the Verizon Website pop up/drive problem by dialing ##7764726 and disabling the cd.

What makes me think I am seeing a partitioned SD card is on F there are all the pictures and videos and downloads I took/got since I got the Inc, and on G I see all the pictures, videos, downloads, etc. that I took/got when I had the Eris.... All the stuff that gets stored on SD.

I am going to try to take the ROM off of F and put it on G and see if it will flash from there.

Yeah you may well have pics on either drive since it's user choice on the Incredible whether to save pics to internal or the SD card. So the G: in your case is going to be the SD card but as a side note, I have had the order of the drives switch on me when plugging in on various attempts. So next time they might be reversed...main thing is just get familiar with the contents on each so you're always sure to place things on the right one.

To avoid even the remote chance of confusion, I made a folder on the SD called AAA_SDCARD. Due to the alphabetical ordering, it's always the first folder my eye sees and there's no chance for mixing them up. This is especially important if you ever decide to reformat. You definitely do NOT want to accidentally format the internal storage. Not fun.

I put it on the other drive and it worked... but I am having problems with the ROM now. It flashed but the lock screen wouldn't unlock... but that is something totally different!

Thanks, guys, for all the input! You helped a girl out!

Great idea! I will have to do that! Thanks!

Could be a fluke. Maybe reboot or even battery pull for 30 secs or so and retry. Did you wipe data and cache before installing the new Rom? That could certainly contribute to oddities if you did not.

Yep, did a data and cache wipe. I had to do a battery pull to get it turned off, and I tried rebooting and the same thing happened. I booted into recovery and restored stock because I use pda net for my internet, so I couldn't search for an answer with an unusable phone... ;)

I haven't found anything about anyone else having this problem, so maybe I messed something up... I am good for that... I had to reinstall Windows on my laptop after I killed my Windows bootloader and Windows restore wiped out my main partition. I screwed something up while copying the ISO image to USB and it stalled at 38%. I recopied the Windows 7 ISO image and it was fine. :p

LOL sounds good. Well, if you decide to try again perhaps either try a different Rom or at least ditch your current file and re-download it. Also check the MD5sum if the developer listed it. That's a surefire way to know you have a complete download of the desired content.
