so i am rooted with unrevoked my clockwork recovery is 2.6 and i want to try rom manager it says i need to install clockworkmod. So my question is what is that and will it damage my phone in any way?? will it prevent me from unrooting???

no, rom manager is simply running off of the most recent clockwork mod which is 3.?? something.

you can use the selection to install it from within rom manager. myself personally had to many issues with clockwork and rom manager, so I don't use them..

Actually, ROM manager is saying that because it's horrible at determining that you have Clockwork flashed on the first installation. Just flash it, and it will pick up that you have it. No harm done. That being said, Mr. Ed is right in that ROM manager isn't the best way to go. It can be buggy, and not work well all the time. Flashing ROMs manually is always better. You can find all of the known trusted ROMs here:

HTC Supersonic/ROMs - XDA-Developers

You can find instructions on how to flash these manually from recovery in the Rooting for Dummies guide. Of course, make a nandroid backup before flashing anything if you haven't already. Let me know if you need more specific instructions.

ok lol thats alot of different rom developers any chance you could tell me what your personal favorite rom is so i can start with that lol

As you can see, the members of this forum are quite friendly and love to help out whenever possible. I think you said you've had your Evo for a week [in one of your other posts]. It seems you had a few hiccups w/ the initial root process [which can happen from time to time... technology is unpredictable]. Perhaps, it may be better to wait on some of these alterations. See how it runs, as is, with the stock rom first. The custom roms/kernels aren't going anywhere and by staying with the stock rom/kernel... if you do switch, you may like the custom one even more so... since you would be aware of the major and minor changes that they have to offer.

However, if you really want to immerse yourself completely... I would advise reading http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies-extras.html Even if you've already rooted [the before rooting sections still has valuable information that could later help with troubleshooting] & the after rooting section[which is where you are now] covers quite a lot, giving in-depth instructions on how to flash roms/kernels w/ or w/out rom manager as well as links to reviews of some of the more popular ones. The guides can really save you some time/headaches if you give them a chance.
