Clockwork recovery not doing backups

Hi All
I've rooted my phone and have Cognition ROM installed. I want to now install Cyanogen. I'd like to backup my ROM using Clockwork Recovery Mod and it doesn't seem to be working.

When I select backup it reboots, then gets locked on the screen with the android, the triangle and the red exclamation mark where the phone gets locked and does not progress.

If I reboot into recovery and then select backup it doesn't do anything and takes me back to the menu system.

Any ideas?

That sounds like the stock recovery.... it's been a while since I saw it, though.

Try flashing a CF-Root kernel package; that will reinstall CWM Recovery and Superuser/su.
