Root ClockworkMod Recovery not working

Well it shouldn't be too new.

-Confirm you didn't do "setInstallLocation 2" to force apps to SD (or any other methods to install apps on sd - EXCLUDING a2sd+ using an EXT)

-Factory reset (could to a titanium backup first) then retry

-Could flash another rooted stock rom. See if that will allow it.

-S-off and flash recovery that way.

Right you have kind of lost me. I don't know what that first point means. I have a2sd+ installed i think. Don't know what other methods though

I can try a factory reset yes
What is S-off? Not sure what that means

S-off (security off) is a replacement hboot which will allow you to do a few other things you cant do without being rooted.

One of the things is to flash a recovery.

Take a titanium backup first then do a factory reset and try unrevoked again.

If you dont know what the first thing is, I guess you havent done it.

Yes unrevoked only s-off's CDMA desires (no sim card). S-off is not neccessarily required now you have recovery.

As I say, if unrevoked wont flash recovery, S-off is the only way but you've sorted that so all good!

Running a Nandroid backup now.

So do you recommend Deforst 6.0?

Do I install the radio image first, then the rom. Then there is also an apps package available...

Deforst 6.1 (not 6.1a) is good for android 2.2 (Froyo) but theres no Sense on it. But Gingervillain (2.3 Gingerbread) is teh same Developer as defrost and its as good as defrost, if not slightly better. definitely feels a bit quicker.

I'll try living without sense. I think I can manage.

Different unlock screen and car panel...

What else? I use a 3rd party launcher anyway so don't make use of the widgets or anything like that.

HTC Email client is gone. The android one is fine but not multiple select of emails or peak hours.

If you just use gmail no worries.

Some people complain about the dialler, not being able to "smart dial"

I use k-9 mail anyway.

The dialer is annoying though. I like the smart dial. Anyway around this? Are there other dialers you can install?

I have tried clearing the Super user data and it is still happening.

I can't run a titanium back up. The SU request just keeps getting in the way.

Try Dialler one or Go dialler (think it comes with go contacts iirc) Both support Smart dialling but i personally prefer Go Dialler

Reboot? superuser once cleared data wise, should then be able to remember Root requests. You will nee to re add all your root apps though.

Never seen the point of smart dialling. I just press Search button and type the name. Or try dialer one. or Go Dialer.

Well I am using go launcher and goSMS so goDialer would be a good step.

Ok managed to get titanium backup running now so I can wipe and install gingervillain in a bit.

Do I need a new radio image or anything?

Does the Auto-sync thing still work with gmail and facebook etc...

Wipe via recovery now it works, before flashing. You probably wont need a radio, as youre on froyo already.

Autosync works yes. Contact pictures for facebook dont seem to auto update though.

From recovery, before flashing, select the wipe data / factory reset option.

Dont be using rom manager or anything ;)

Just manually boot into recovery (vol down + power from off)

Yeah I will be doing it from the recovery don't worry! But when I last did it I remember there being a few options under wipe.

Davlik cache being one and battery info being another.

Just backing up my entire SD card now so I can repartition the SD card before installing to ensure a2sd works properly

Those wipe options are under "advanced" I think. But dalvik is wiped by data / factory reset anyway, which I think is on the main "page" of clockwork.

Ok I am really liking Gingervillain so far. Nice and fast.

Couple of issues though.

1. LED notifications for text messages don't seem to work. When I test them in GoSMS nothing happens. But when I test them in LEDmeKnow it works fine. However it still doesn't work when I actually get a text message

2. apps2sd doesn't seem to work very well. So far it has only used 50 odd MB of sd-ext memory and 120odd MB of internal memory.

any ideas how i could sort these?
