It's acting correctly. It does this so one can use it if their phone bricks or loops.

Its a failsafe built into clockwork mod. Whenever you phone is off and you plug it into a wall charger and turn it back on it will boot into clockwork. Its a safety net in case you bootloop and need to restore a backup.
I don't know of a way to prevent it from happening, I just hit the camera button and it reboots normally.

So let me get this straight: clockwork mod is an android or motorola thing? Im not rooted or rom'd or anything. I'm totally reset. It would do this on any other normal dx?

About the battery longevity, I have read that running it down to completely dead actually maintains barry life. A "dead" battery means the galvanic cells reaction has completely taken place. Then charging back to full moves the equilibrium point to induce the reverse reaction. Keeping any battery at mid level charge does not help keep the ions and plated neutral atoms in balance, eventually ruining longevity.

Your battery theory would be true for NiCad batteries back in the day. The current gen lithium Ion do not require a full cycle to maintain battery life. They do not have the 'memory' that some people speak of.

And are you trying to remove clockworkmod since you don't need it anymore? let me know if you do. I know how to remove it without doing an SBF.

I stand corrected :) (even though its not a "theory" ;) ) i see that they dont suffer from memory effect. interesting.

yes that is what i am trying to do. ill PM

Clockwork Mod isn't an app. It hijacks the boot process. You need an app to access it like Droid X Bootstrap. If you dont want it to boot into clockwork after a manual reboot then open the app and select bootstrap recovery and then OK. Your next boot will be normal. And its a good idea every now and then to drain the battery and recharge. You can also wipe battery stats in clockwork/advanced if you have battery issues and then recalibrate the battery
