Root ClockWorkMod

Ok so I just screwed up my phone, fallowed the directions posted on the last page and rebooted with quickboot (which I already had instaleld) came up with the fallowing error message.

Fastboot mode started: 0
USB init ept @ 0x82000
fastboo_init()
udc_start()

Now I can't get to either the recovery or the rom just I get the LG logo then it goes straight to that

one semi safe method of testing the flashing ability to phone is to make a theme on uot kitchen using your phones systemui and framework-res apks,let the kitchen build a theme for you and then try to flash it to the phone using the install zip function. be sure to use the backup function first and hope for the best as this is a test build. im betting itll flash the theme just fine. if it applies it ok i think you folks have a working recovery.

LacWare

The recovery didn't flash correctly. Did you verify the md5 after you flashed? If you reset phone in the qpst memory debug program it should let you get back into your rom where you can reflash the recovery. I've had this happen back when we were testing recoveries and it got me out every time

Thanks I'm on my linux boot right now working on something but I'll boot back to windows and try it when I finish up my current project. I'll post the results, don't want anyone else running into this without a way out.

just for the posting of news to others sake,im going to update android central with news on this all in their elite section. i wont put files or how to install until everyone feels its safe and enough testing has been done. but once everyone has agreement on that,ill gladly post a guide over there for everyone and spread the great news for elite users. and again awesome work by gp and all concerned. top notch work people. i couldnt be happier for a greater group of people than i am you guys. have waited a long time through a lot of junk to finally get your devices some quality stuff on them. :D

I was trying to find a link to the process but not having luck from phone. If you know how I won'thave to look

Alright I tried using QPST but the program isn't reconizing the android. I tried two ways USB plugged in before and after the phone has booted. either way it sends me to the same error then adds the fallowing lines:
-- suspend --
-- reset --
-- port change --
-- reset --

then when I mess around unplugging and plugging back in it just keeps changing ports and resetting. It seems my PC doesn't have the driver for "Android" the COM port doesn't show up and I tried booting in to download mode to see what would happen and ended up in the same screen. I have all the drivers installed (even re installed just now to be safe) from when I got my MSL.

I think we posted at the same time. I'm fairly fimilar with QPST though obviously missing something, if the phone can be recognized I'm sure I can figure it out from there.

I did test an update.zip from Titanium Backup. It works fine.

I'm not sure you really want to format the /system partition anyways. The way we fixed the reboot issue required us to mount it. If you unmount it and /or format it, you may be rebooted after 2 minutes. And if you formatted /system before that reboot, it really isnt going to reboot very well.

thats good. then i would say you guys have a working recovery. once everyone feels safe with a final release and a guide ill spread the news as far as i can. there are a ton of forums where no one has a clue what to do,where to find info,etc. i dont mind dropping into some of the lesser visited forums and dropping in a guide that walks through root using poot,then whatever guide appears for installing cwm,and a few links to get here so users can keep updated and maybe join. the more people that are here,the more talented people will start doing things for the elite.

You do need to be in dl mode.. Pull battery, hold vol up and down while plugging in usb cable

Nevermind I got it, I had to hold both the volume keys down and plug in the USB connected to my PC (without holding the power key) and it booted into download mode where I just reset it with QPST thanks kwknot

heh thats twice you've posted while I was typing a reply. it wouldn't let me into download the traditional way of holding the volume keys and power, had to trick it with the USB for some reason. either way it worked though thank you

You're prob. not in big trouble.. Fastboot is a good place to be IMO. Use fastboot.exe from the SDK to flash CWM. If you somehow wiped out your boot partition, you can flash that back too.

Yea I wasn't really freaking out I'm not too good with android but i figured it if got past the LG screen I was in the clear, and I'm not as emotionally attached to my phone as some people so I could wait for kw to talk me through it and get me back to my rom, time to dive back in and try again.

Got it working that time, don't know if it made the difference but I downloaded the recovery image from my PC browser as apposed to Dolphin on my android. I remember reading in one of the threads for one of my old phones (which one isn't coming to mind at the moment) that when they downloaded from some file sharing websites on their phones it became corrupt. Again not sure if it made the difference or not but figured it was worth mentioning

@Taco
Are you able to access the recovery? if so I would imagine that someone can give you something to flash your system back.

We just need a rom for you to flash then (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I'm not all that great with this stuff but I don't think it will be long before someone comes up with a rom for us. I know Leslie Ann said hers were available via PM when I get a response from her I'll send one your way.

If you did a backup you should be able to just restore that backup? Unless this is more of an issue then I'm seeing. If you can access your recovery I'm sure someone with a little more then me can guide you back
