Root CM -10 Bootloop help

rahrahk

Lurker
Hello I fear I may be in a similar situation if I can not get out of this error loop I got today when I loaded CM 10 on my EVO 4g lte
I have rooted, flashed ROMs, preformed backups etc successfully. But when I dloaded CM10 (cm-10-20121012-nightly-jewel.zip to be exact) and loaded it, I ended up with the "Unfortunately, your phone stopped" loop. It will not go away no matter how many times I OK through it, it returns. I am not asking you how to fix it. I just want to know how I can access recovery to restore a backup or flash something else? I have tried the vol dwn+pwr several times but its just doing a normal reboot. I guess I have to turn off fast boot but I can not get in to do that either. I have effectively bricked my phone...I thought that was just a myth. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. EVO 4G LTE
Last note: When I connect it to the PC it is recognized and I can use the pull down menu and choose charging options and USB debugging enable

Somebody will move you to the proper section in a while to get help but if you can use the notification pull down then it sounds like there is hope. Good luck:)

Welcome rahrahk to AF!! :)
Glad to have you here! I moved you here to better help with your phone.
The good folks here know alot about your phone and will be happy to help out k? No worries!:)

No need to worry, you're in good hands here. The people here have saved my butt more times than I can count. You're still a good far way away from bricked. Just go here: Dev-Host - cm-10-20121025-UNOFFICIAL-jewel.zip - The Ultimate Free File Hosting / File Sharing Service and download the 10/25 build. They fixed the phone force closing issue completely.

To get to recovery first turn off the phone. Either the proper way or hold vol up + down + power until it shuts off. Then hold vol down and power. You'll come to a white screen with just text, should say HBOOT near the top. This is bootloader. It'll scan for PJ75IMG.zip, and shouldn't find one. After it does press vol down to navigate down to RECOVERY and press power to select it. And you're back to recovery and good to flash away.

If you're S-ON, you'll have to fastboot flash the kernel. It'll say S-ON or S-OFF above where it says HBOOT in bootloader.

Welcome to the forums! :D

I would strongly suggest flashing decks latest build rather than the official cm10 ones. Deck is the main guy making the fixes on the EVO 4G LTE CM10 builds, and with the recent freeze on CM10 code the official nightlies are wayyy behind in fixes.

The phone force close at boot is one of those things that is fixed already but hasnt made it to the official builds
