Root CM 7.1 & LorDmod

Morning chaps. Quick question. When I was on the stock ROM and received a text it used to place the number 1 2 etc in the text message icon on my homescreen until I read them, is there a way to enable that in CM7
Cheers.

Congrats Rob on your promotion mate :)

Morning Murzz!

Are you using the stock CM7 SMS app? I believe there is a way to do it... don't think it's in settings though - think it's a case of downloading another app. I use Go SMS and that does what you're talking about anyway... could be worth looking at changing - can always get rid if you don't like it!!

Yeah, i'm using the stock message app mate, have tried 3rd party messaging apps in the past but always seem to revert to the stock chappy. Will give Go a try.
Cheers

Yeah - the Go! dev team are pretty good... their apps (generally) are free. I use Go SMS and Go Launcher and am quite happy with them. There are plenty of free themes for them both too

Launcher Pro also has this feature, if you have your Dialer/SMS/Gmail apps on the dock at the bottom. I believe Handcent also has a widget that does the same.

Go for CFS, no 2WCR. I had it on when I was on LeeDroid and it got annoying after a while. Your choice though. :)

Yeah, that's what you do though, put on SD, backup, flash, reboot.

Glad you mentioned this part Prez, i've flashed Lordmod 8.2 with cfs and the2wcr, how do you make it record though is my question! The latest version on Miui is simple for recording. CM7 is proving difficult, i've looked everywhere for the settings!!!

You need to install the app for it, it's linked to in the thread, just underneath where you download the kernel. (CallRecorder 1.0.27 alpha5 for download here).

The 2WCR just activates it at kernel level, it doesn't install the app. I presume in MIUI, the app is installed as part of the ROM. With CM7 however, you need to install the app seperately.

Cool thanks for the info do i flash it in just the same way as the kernel??

Not sure, I can't access the multi upload site at work. Is it an apk or a zip download?

If zip, can you open it and see what it contains (don't change anything though) please? I'll be able to tell if it's flashable that way.

The link you linked you highlighted went straight to megaupload and just an APK file was downloaded automatically, no zip file in sight. Any clue as to what to do with it? cheers :)

I get that on ocassion when I try to install the MIUI camera. Reboot, then try again and it should work.

Do you have Unknown Sources ticked in Settings -> Applications?

I was hoping this would be easy and from what you say it sounds like a doddle. So far i've opened the drive via pc and removed the apk file and binned it, went back to the multi upload site and re downloaded it from a another host just in case the download was corrupt. replaced the fresh apk file on the root of my drive then used astro to intall it again and it just keeps saying that it's not installed. I'm re booting for the second time to try again so wish me luck

Weird :\

Do you know how to add attachments to posts here? Can you attach and I can have a mess about with it myself then (I'd probably need the 2WCR kernel too). If not, that's cool, you can email me.

oh well just have to switch back to miui for voice calls  re did the process several times with reboots and everytime it just keeps saying the same old thing. "application not installed"

Thanks for your help anyway Prez.

No, I thought you were giving up so I didn't bother, apologies.

I can have a mess around tonight if you want though?

That would be good if you could, do you want me to send you the apk or can you get it from the link you gave earlier in the post. I really would like to have it working. Cheers mate
