Root CM 7 gingerbread rom

Still do no get the Cy mod fever. Though I used it with the G1, there are too many hardware differences, so Cy mod is too generic to cover them all. Keys being internal storage space, microsd, cameras, specific hardware buttons, 3G/4G differences, etc.

IMO, too much hardware for one rom to support well. Too many gaps. The funny posts are the folks that install generic roms and then complain about functions not working. What did they expect?

cyanogenmod is not really "one rom". there are human developers working on each rom for each phone so all the things you mention work correctly.

cm6 and cm7 ran just fine on every phone ive had it on. never once had an issue that was from it being a "generic rom".

True scotty, but there was an issue with video recording and the camera took a while to get going. I'm still running CM7 RC3 on my DI and it's quite stable, but there are some hardware glitches. Are you running BAMF 1.3 on your TB?

It may take developers a while to get some things working, but its not really because its a generic rom. I run the nigtlys on my Inc and I haven't noticed any hardware glitches. What have you experienced?

I'm currently on the perfect storm, but I'm definately gonna give BAMF a try. Mebbe tonite :)

What people need to realize with ROMs like CM is that it is pretty much re-written from the ground up. It is based on the AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Most of the ROMs that people are used to are simply a modification of the exsisting OS that came on your phone. There are things added and things subtracted and things changed, however it is still just a modified version of the standard ROM that comes with the phone.

With CM (and other AOSP ROMs) the whole ROM is built from the AOSP code and is completely different then what your phone came with. It is truely putting a new OS on the phone. This is not to take anything away from the non AOSP ROMS, I enjoy them as well.

I can't believe RC4 is already out, I just installed rc3 on my DI. Thanks seven.

Video out does not work on any AOSP rom for one and 720P for video recording. That seems to be the holdup on the TB also. There is a Radio Interface Layer that is being worked on by the devs and no aosp rom can be cooked yet until they figure it out. You are gonna love BAMF 1.3 if you decide to install it.

Well said,ska.t73. Bjanow also good info. I'll let ya know wen I try it out :)

That right there is the best way to find out if CM (or any AOSP) is right for you. They aren't for everyone, and because they are built the way they are there will be some issues that arise. So really nothing that anyone says can tell you if it is the right ROM for you, people can tell you what it is and what it does, but until you are running it you won't know if you like or not.

I know people who don't like CM, it simply isn't what they want. I happen to love CM, however I'm actually enjoying Sense (for now I'm sure I will get sick of it eventually and go back to the CM), so I'm not really getting antsy for it to come out. I can tell you from personal experience that CM is a good OS with responsive Devs who will work to get your phone running the way it should. The are also very commited to the open source mentality and are always looking for ways to improve it using code from the community if needed.

Can't wait to hear your opinions on it once it comes out and you get to try it. :)
