What is the current, most functional, version of Cyanogenmod? I am running Icarus, and am curious about the differences in the two, but have no experience with CM.

You'd be better off sticking with Icarus, neither of the CM ROMs have camera, usb mounting, or mms working. Icarus is the most functional and stable out of all of the Ascend ROMs currently out.

chris is right, it it the most stable, BUT i currently have cm7 on my ascend
OVERALL it is SIGNIFICANTLY faster and smoother than icarus
only things like chris said is usb mounting, camra, and mms dont work, but i really dont use alot of those so iss good for me...
if u want me to suggest u to one, i wud say cm7 if u dont use mms and take pics

only thing really not working is mms in cm6 n 7 now 
and they both run alot smoother and no uim errors or a ton of force close errors.
oh and both are ALOT easier to install lol
