Root [CM] Cyanogenmod 7 Port

Alright, here's what I put together over the weekend. I don't have service but *228 brought me to the Metro phone tree. Other than some minor details that can be worked around by third party apps, everything is smooth.

What Works
Phone (I don't have service, but *228 works)
Wifi
Bluetooth
Hardware Acceleration

What I haven't tested/doesn't work
Data (Don't have service)
Texting (Don't have service)
YouTube (This is vanilla CM, maybe need flash? On the todo list)
Camera (I know, I know. Boo hiss.)

How to install
Boot into CWM.
Flash the Cyanogenmod Zip.
Flash gapps. (optional)
Format cache and/or factory reset. (optional, I installed after using vanilla stock, everything was kosher, even apps).

If you think you are going to post something along the lines of a bug report, please try to include as much information as possible as opposed to "It doesn't work" or other forms of nonsense.

Thanks.

Does this use a new kernel or the stock kernel? I will flash this later on today and give as much feedback as I can. right now my Admire is being used for its daily purpose

It's my old kernel, but it's not stock. Expect the same performance and features as my old Stock++ or my old Cyanogenmod 7.

I cant even install the new CWM. Im on cwm 5.0.2.7 and this it the error i seem to get

Im thinking it could be a bad download or a bad transfer fromy computer to my sd card seeing how i recently changed the front two usb hub on my computer since it was broken.

Edit: not a bad download or a bad transfer.

Edit: CWM 5.0.2.7 doesnt seem to want to flash the CWM zip but CWM 5.0.2.8 will flash it over, got the cache errors but a factory reset did fix it.

This build is definitely the most stable CM7 for the Admire yet at least in my opinion and this is the fastest my phone has ever been, I can not test Data, MMS, or Caling as mine isnt connected though. Gonna stay on the ROM for the day to test as much as i can and see if there is any overheating issues or anything that i can report

First Bug report:

  • when trying to change volume through the settings menu you will get a small freeze and it will ask you to force close or to wait. it you select wait then the volume sliders will pop up
  • auto rotate a bit slow but that should bbe my own phone
  • video playback doesnt work, could be related to the youtube thing. i went online using the browser to watch a video and it didnt work. same thing with another app that plays movie trailers.

Nice, whats new in this version?

Its pretty much the same as before as its still CM7 not CM 9 or 10. This version is just a lot more stable than the previous two existing CM7 roms. This one is very smooth and works pretty damn good except for a few small bugs here and there but im sure its nothing that cant be solved considering. You cant overclock the rom though as the max frequency was 800mhz but you really dont need it. Its very fast amd snappy, the wifi is more responsive than previous predecessors. Cant say anything about Data, or MMS or anything like that since mine isnt connected. Overall im really happy with this one

I know Aqua said he was tired of doing CM7 but this could be the finals steps to a fully working CM for the Admire, if he decides to stay on it. Although he has CM10 built already but the kernel work is the only thing holding it back booting, as he said in another thread.

I have to admit I am not very skilled in android development or even most of the basic stuff, but I have read many of forums and am pretty capable when it comes to following directions. With that said, I installed everything properly and cm runs great. As for the service functions, voice calling works fine, mms and data do not. I have tried metron and that was a no go. When I look at my network settings there is nothing selected in network type (cdma, gsm, etc.) and no apn's listed. Another thing I noticed is some of the system settings do not stick when rebooting after a change. Like I said I am good a following instructions so let me know how to get the info you need to figure it out.

нет данных,неработает камера

нет данных,неработает камера

the camera doesnt work because our phone camera driver has never played well with the CM7 according to Aqua which is true.

I think the camera would be the hardest thing on this phone to fix. Voice, date and MMS can be fixed, prove is in the version of CM7 that already exist but since Aqua doesnt have an activated phone its going to take awhile to get it work. its going to be a trial and error thing. MMS might give trouble becasue even with the other the only way to get MMS to work was with baby jesus Metron2 zip and even with that you had to have wifi off to get them to send

I have tried merton2 and it didn't work, but neither did data. I could make calls no problem though.

You have metro2 cause jesusfreak made metron and metron2 plus there also metroff variations from others like PG. Did you flash metron2 on this CM7 and nothing worked? Did call worked before flashing it or did it only worked after flashing it cause you said none of it was working when you flashed the rom a few posts earlier?

Edit: whoops nevermind you said voice calling was working lol misread that

Also of you can put the apns were they belong then maybe mms and data would work could be as simple as that. And you're gonna want to set the data settings to cdma as the Admire is a cdma phone. Just waiting on Aqua to chime in though as he is the dev and im not. More like a troubleshooter from experience

I'll see what I can do. Where would I get the apns from? I have them from o.a. for that mms fix. Do I just extract them to a certain directory? Also thanks for the help, glad to test as much as I can, even though this is still my only phone.

I downloaded both reppards metrommsfix ad metron2 a while ago, at least that is what the .zip is called. Metron2 was taken from here :http://androidforums.com/admire-all...cm7-2-rc1-requisite0-beta2-5.html#post5402304

And yeah that is metron2. Just asking cause the creator of it removed it after some banning incidents and i requested it amd kagebeast was lucky enoigh to be able to find someone that still had it LONG after its removal

Congrats! :)

Can't wait til this is completed. Personally the only complete rom for our phone is still oa. I have tried almost all of them available for the admire and there are issues with them all, except oa. I hope cm gets to 100% cause it is a far better rom overall. Even with the 800mhz kernel it was still more responsive than oa on an overclocked kernel. Would love to see what this rom could do on the 1200mhz kernel.

Keep up the good work Mang.
