Root CM4DX Gps Fix

You.. guys... rock.

I've been away all morning and boom. Fixed! You guys are fantastic. I don't care what they say about you!
 
Not working for me..

Bought root explorer.. copied the file from the OP to the diretory and changed permissions to match.

GPS notification just blinks and blinks while in maps. Also GPS can't find location in navigation. Network location still working.

I did not use monster, I came from Froyo SBF if that might make a difference.

Did you reboot after changing the permissions?

I'm having the same issue with baseband .07 coming from fresh Froyo SBF. And this is definitely not my first picnic
 
Following the same logic, does anyone have a 2.2.34 Froyo gps file I could try to change permissions on and see if it works?
 
I used the regular method (SBF to Froyo, upgrade) and can confirm that this is working for me. Wasn't working at first, and then remembered to change the permissions. So if you're having problems, make sure you've done that. Also rebooting a few times wouldn't hurt, just to verify. I am also on .07p.

Maps is working fine now, as is Navigation. Trying other things now.
 
I got it to work going in this order.

1. SBF Stock Froyo
2. Rooted Froyo install
3. Drocap for Droid 2
4. Installed 2 part rooted GB
5. Formatted system, data, and cache
6. Mounted system and ran the monster.zip once. Let the radio fail and rebooted into CM 7.1. (Initial Install)
7. Rebooted into recover and installed monster.zip again. (Radio passed)
8. Rebooted phone into CM 7.1 and installed Root explorer.
9. Mounted system as read write.
10. Copied gps.shadow.so from SD card to /system/lib/hw over the existing file. Existing is 5.5kb and the new one is 45kb.
11. Held down on gps.shadow.so and selected permissions and changed to rw-r--r--.
12. Rebooted phone and GPS is in fact working.

Make sure you have the correct permissions on the file after the install. For some reason when I wrote over the existing file it removed read access to the new one.

Have restarted all day. Permissions are correct (match every other file in there and the post) and it's still a no go.

Edit - just so you know, not complaining. These updates will get worked into a final release cm7 that i'll no doubt flash anyway. Just trying to give an update.

I don't think I'm going to flash the monster zip because I'd rather have network location over Gps anyway.

Ok, install P3droid's All in 1 rooted GB zip (Wipe data and cache). Use Root Explorer and copy gps.shadow.so from /system/lib/hw to your sdcard.

Then install P3droid's CM7 Monster.zip (twice) wipe system, data and cache the first time, to get on the correct baseband. Replace gps.shadow.so with the version you copied from .596 into /system/lib/hw, correct the permissions, and reboot.

Please note that the GPS works but the Location services don't.

Edit: Keegan simply change the extension from .txt to .so

ok maybe im not the sharpest tool in the shed but im not completely getting this.. after i download the file posted am i suppose to replace the 1 on the phone with the downloaded 1??... i have root explorer and made sure permissions are fine but i havent replaced the file so is that what im doing wrong ? sorry apparently i cant read either.. taking care of my 3 yr old feeding em makes me rush through the reading gonna try it see if it helps me
 
You are supposed to replace the file currently on your phone (running CM7) with the file that you downloaded. That post was in response to another user who'd already replaced gps.shadow.so that's why it's a little hard to understand.
