Root CM7 - Crazy vibrating/Crazy screen lag

Kamlon

Lurker
First time poster and new rooted user. Rooted my phone without a problem last week (thanks to this site!). Ran with the stock ROM before finally deciding on Cyanogen 7 because I had people saying nothing but good things about it.

Fast forward to now and for the past few days I've been having this very odd occurrence. I've tried searching for solutions and while I did find some people talking about it, there was never a solution.

Anyways, what happens is this. Randomly, my phone will slow to an absolute crawl. Like .1 FPS. It's impossible for me to even get the screen on long enough to unlock, it's that bad. By the time the screen comes on, it's time to time itself back out. Using the phone is impossible as any action I do takes place a full 5 seconds after the fact. Also, it vibrates randomly throughout this whole process. The only thing that I've found to cure this is to remove the battery and just turn it back on. It comes on without a problem and no errors.

But this happens everyday, multiple times. Just happened at the end of a phone call and that was the breaking point. I REALLY like CM 7 but if I can't find out what's causing this I'll just go back to the stock sense ROM and be terrified to ever try anything again. :(

I haven't heard of anything like the vibrating. But on this page of the CM7 nightly someone does mention it slowing down a lot. But they didn't say anything about it being every day multiple times.

I guess you could flash a new rom... but that doesn't really help the problem too much.

Might wanna try a different version of CM? Or even another AOSP rom..?

Hope someone more knowledgeable on the subject can help you sort this out if you decide to stick with your current rom.

have you tried and wipe cache, and dalvik cache? maybe reflash the rom again.

don't be terrified go ahead and try something else. maybe try miui if you like aosp roms. it was very stable for me. i just don't like aosp roms. if you want and venture to the sense side try mikfroyo 4.5 or kings ultra froyo unleashed. use reference 2 in my signature to get the roms.

Well I was able to fix my problem. Was running CM7 RC1 and over at the Cyanogen forums I saw people discussing this issue dubbed "molasses" state and saw I could fix it if I switched over to the nightly builds. Seems to me these AOSP ROMs are bit too "techy" for me. Maybe I will try out some sense ROMs. Was just scared I was over here bricking my device. Seeing it lock up like that and vibrate like crazy was making me nervous.

Anyways, problem solved. Thanks guys!
