Root CM7: GPS Won't Work

I rooted my Thunderbolt last week using the Revolutionary method, and it worked perfectly. I flashed CyanogenMod 7.1.0 RC 1.7, and for the most part it's working fine. Today I tried to use Google Navigation for the first time since flashing, and I discovered my GPS does not work with CM7. I rebooted the phone to see if that would help, but no luck. There's absolutely no indication that GPS is doing anything or even turning on.

Is this a known issue? I haven't been able to find much of anything about this for Thunderbolt. How can I fix it?

I fixed mine with the sense gps fix. Can't find the link, but it goes like this.

1.) nandroid backup your CM7
2.) flash a sense ROM, I used Das Bamf Forever
3.) download GPS Status from market, open the app and let it get a solid lock on at least 7 satellites.
4.) immediately boot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik (i think I read someone say you don't have to, but I did)
5.) flash back CM7 and restore your CM7 nandroid

After this, you should get a GPS lock right away. Hope that helps. Oh, by the way, I have ready that if you flash another radio, you have to do this all over again if you have problems with GPS after the new radio flash.

Awesome, I'll try that! Thanks!

I'm also having GPS troubles..I used the guide provided in the link..I then used file expert instead of root explorer because I don't wanna have to spend 4 bucks unless I have to for such a simple operation..I then clicked mount on the file expert app and it gives me two option, Read only and read write..I tried both.. I then found the proper file in the app for the gps and deleted the old, and pasted the new code..But it wont save, it keeps saying "Error"....Can someone please help me..I really need GPS asap!..

Thanks ahead of time..

Make sure you're in "Write Only" and try saving. Also, I'd recommend buying Root Explorer. You're going to need to use it a lot more than you realize and it's the best of the best

I had this exact same problem on my Evo 4G. Found a fix that was a little easier than the one above. I'm pretty new to rooting, customizing, etc my phone so I really just got EXTREMELY luck with this.

I downloaded an app called GPS Status. There is a free and paid version. The app allows you to clear / reset the GPS cache/stats/info whatever it is from within the app itself; then you can also re-download the info from the app. I don't know if I am saying this stuff right, but before I did this Maps location was WAY off and Navigation would not acquire location. Both work flawlessly now and both lock onto my location instantly.

Hope this helps. Again, no credit owed to me, just extremely and coincidentally lucky.
