Root CM7 Nightlies

Just did a fresh install of #12. The wifi turning off then on on wake up seems to be fixed, and the battery life has seem to gotten better (for me anyways) so far, won't now for definite until a couple of day. I'm using the stock kernel now instead of the tiamat one. I'll probably stick with this build for now until another build makes better improvements.

#12 is definitely faster than previous releases. Its actually one of the fastest roms I've used to date, ranking up there with Incredibly Reengineered. Maybe the hardware acceleration was added in this release?

Couldn't agree with you more. Prior to 12, incredibly reengineered was by far the fastest rom but not without minor flaws. This is as complete as a beta has been. It is that fast!

I am going only from what is being said on xda, but it seems there was nothing major changed/added in 12 from 11, if anything.

This ROM is fantastic though.

So I think I understand what I do with the nightly rom -- titanium / nandroid backup, wipe everything, flash rom zip file. But what do I do with the gapps file?

If wiping everything, then reflash gapps.

Anything better in 13? 12 is running the best out of all of them so far for me I don't want to change it.

There is no need to do a full wipe with these. You just need to boot into recovery...make a back up every so often...go to advanced > wipe dalvik cahce. then install the zip. I have not wiped since the first build.

As for 13, i have not noticed any real differences but since it is so easy to update...then why not? :)

I had horrible battery life with 10 for some reason barely would get 8hrs of mild use. With 12 and some setcpu profiles with mild use I'm sitting at 62% and almost 13hrs of use . I couldn't be happier with this ROM , I'm probably gonna just stick with 12 until they do a stable release

What profiles are you using? Actually, which kernel are you on, that would make a difference in profiles. I have Alpha v4 so it gives me smartass governor but I don't have a profile yet.
What I usually do is run the new nightly and test it for a day. If I like it I nandroid and delete the old one. This way if I don't like the new nightly I can nandroid back without losing any settings or data. Pain in the ass but it keeps me out of trouble.

I'm using build #13 with the stock kernel. I have set CPU set to Ondemand (it doesnt have smartass). The only profile I have is screen off (powersave): max: 345 min:245. I have the max a little higher because I listen to music and Sirius/XM and to avoiding choppy playback I up the frequency a little bit. You can put it at 245/245 and be fine.

Took the plunge the other night and flashed #12 (a few hours before 13 came out, it seems). I'm happy with it. I only have two issues, if anyone has any input on these;

Battery meter - in 6.1.0 I had the option to turn on a percentage display on the battery icon. I can't find that option here, or it's not included. If the latter, is it just excluded from this nightly, or does it look like Cyanogen(mod) won't include this option anymore?

Kernel clock speeds - in 6.1.0 my minimum speed was 128mhz. In this one it's 245. The former allowed me to use SetCPU profiles to further throttle down in certain cases which resulted in a nice battery life gain. Any input on their reasoning behind this?

Flash over 12 with 13. The battery mods are here: CM7 [DInc] Mods I use the green circle one but there are a few.
Minimum is indeed 245, too much lag below that when coming out of sleep (or so I think). I use a Alpha kernel which allows smartass, which I like. No setcpu profiles yet but probably soon. Waiting for some more input.
On the OP there are a ton of great resources, don't know how you'll get through 170+ pages, though. Sometimes I find it easier to ask here.. way, way more friendly. ;)

Edit: Just saw your post on XDA and it was due to music being jumpy and not coming out of sleep mode.

I'll hold. I'm sure they'll add theirs into a package eventually (by RC1 at the latest). Was just curious if they had scrapped it due to users compaining about battery drain.

The music thing didn't make sense to me, since I ran fine at 128 on 6.1.0. Still, it's plausible that 2.3 is more resource intensive. Also, I did experience the issues with coming out of sleep at 128. I'm ok with 245.

I'm using SetCPU profiles just fine. They seem to work. Mine are set to scale the CPU speed down as battery life decreases, starting at 40%. I've noticed this working in games that are heavily affected by CPU speed (Sims 3, Robo Defense).

i am on 12 and ill flash the new nightly tonight when it comes out around 9 30 eastern time and what not but i am also using set cpu and just have one profile set that is to set to min when the screen is off and

I've had great success with Invisiblek #28 with this ROM. I was using SetCPU also before flashing the new kernel and battery life was okay. Now when I get home after 9 hours without a charge, I'm around 75%.

Man, this rom is sick! First day using it today. Where have I been? Loving GB. I tried OMGB a while back and wasn't too impressed. Really glad I decided to give this a shot. I love the screen off graphic and the general feel of GB.

So... I'm thinking about playing around with some kernels. Stock wasn't too bad today. I usually have to go a few days till I know what the real expectations are for a kernel. I'm thinking of trying InvisibleK #28. Looks like the poster above thought it worked well. Thoughts?

Nightly #12.

Seems to have to reconnect to wifi when coming out of sleep. Also, when using the stock email client (not GMail), can't save a signature when using IMAP (POP3 works fine).
