Help Combine contact with Facebook

So on my Droid2, with Blur, I could link my contacts to their Facebook, Twitter, etc account. Is there a way to do this? I thought I had on my Galaxy Tab as well, but that might be a Samsung thing and not an Android thing. Help?

This might be informative for you...

Google disables contact sync in Facebook for Android, but only Nexus S for now -- Engadget

I'm not sure of its current state in 4.0, but Google's stance I believe is that they don't want facebook contacts muddying up the contact book or something to that effect...someone can correct me if i am wrong.

Ok, I can understand that, but why is it an option under "ADD ACCOUNT"? But when you click on it, it does nothing?? It sounds like it's just broken..

But trying to get around that, isn't there an app that just imports the pictures from FB and puts them on your contacts? I thought it was taken down from the android market, but there is some website you can "side load" it on.. forget the name..

SyncMyPix is what I have always used.

What I really want is to have a link under my contact, so if I put a contact widget on my screen, I can go right to their FB, like I could on my D2. *sad face*

same here. NObody i know is on G+ except me. There is no way to sync facebook pics with my contacts? other than using the app suggest above? - syncmypix?

Appears broken for now. Clicking to add a Facebook account to the phone does nothing.

I gave Google+ a shot, but there weren't angels singing and emu dancing and whatever. Saw no reason to try to drag all my people and pages to a new platform that is obviously just a knockoff.

Facebook integration needs to work.

SyncMyPix doesn't append their fbook info, such as address, phone number, birthday, ...
Yes, it gets you pictures, but then you have another service updating regularly in the background needlessly.

edit: and if you tell it to only sync pictures for contacts without pictures, then you can only do it once!

I installed Friendcaster, which brought all of my facebook friends in to the contact list. So I have them in my dialer, sms, etc now.

Also seems to just generally be an excellent Facebook ap, so I might uninstall the official ap and just run with Friendcaster. I'll report back.

But if I install Friendcaster, won;t I just have a bunch of dupes? Like, I'll have my sister as a phone contact, and as a FB contact. What I want to do is *link* them, and not just the pic. Can Friendcaster do that?

This feature was one of the really nice things about Sense, they would link all contacts from all social networks and even people who had multiple emails, it would sync them all.

This was an Android feature in Gingerbread, wasn't it?

Google needs to suck it up and realize Google+ has not yet reached Facebook status.

I agree. I miss not having to worry about having contact pics, as it updated with their facebook pic. I will try the pic syncing app, I don't really care about getting status updates on my contact page, so that should solve it.

I got syncmypix. Not a fan, didn't do a lot of people, screwed a few up (for instance my bf and his dad have the same name). I really prefer linking contacts like GB did and other bits have before.

Friendcaster appears to have matched everthing well. My contacts are now also part of a "Friendcaster" group which, when I open it, takes me to their Facebook/Friendcaster page. At first blush, I don't see ANY duplicates.

I tried Friendcaster, and it works fine, but even though i selected the "use high res pictures" option, they still don't look to high res to me.

Am I alone in getting the feeling that facebook has started to be on the decline? I stopped looking at it for a while and when I came back it almost seemed like it was crawling slowly toward what I consider to be "myspace territory". Now I am not saying it is to that point yet, but it does seem to be going in that direction, for me at least.

If you dont mind adding your contacts manually, I use Google Contact Sync ,which will load all the photos onto your gmail contacts or you can go into the person you want to set on the Facebook app, open the photo then menu set as contact photo.
