Coming over from a Samsung Fascinate...

Hey all, just wanted to introduce myself here and say hello. Been using the Samsung Fascinate since earlier this year and having so many issues, I was finally able to get Verizon to switch out my phones. The woman said she was going to send us (me and my wife) Droid X's. Now from reading thru the forum, I am not sure if it will just be original Droid X's or X2's, as she didnt specify and I didn't know to ask at the time... but I will know on Wednesday.

So I guess I was wondering do you guys think I will be pretty happy with whichever phone I receive? I like a lot of the things about the Fascinate and hate a lot too, but when I am having missed calls. dropped calls and texts then it is time for a change. Regardless of everything else, the one thing I do expect my phone to do is make and receive calls and texts... Heck, it will be nice, maybe I will be able to use my blutooth again. The blutooth on the Fascinate was terrible and I stopped using it...

I have them both. The Dx is my daily driver. I gave the Fascinate to my daughter who is 10 years old....she loves it lol

Yeah both the droid x and x2 have their advantages/disadvantages, you should be happy with either one. The X has a lot of developer support with many good roms, and a normal lcd but it's single core. X2 has less support and a pentile lcd, but it has a dual core and a better graphics chip too. I would think fascinate had good developer support too since samsung isn't too strict on bootloader but I never checked.

I own both the DroidX and the fascinate. I bought the DX first and after getting mad at Moto I bought a used Fascinate. Even after swearing off moto devices I use my DX as my go to phone. The DX has much better build quality in my opinion. If you have a TV with HDMI it can display pictures and videos through a micro HDMI port. As far as the screens go the fascinate screen is brighter and has deeper colors if not to deep as some pics almost look fake because the Color is off. With that said the DX screen is bigger has a slightly higher resolution and in my opinion less pixelated, even with all the super AMOLED hype I think the DX screen is better. Last but not least the DX is a signal beast. It gets more bars, a stronger signal strenght, and data seems faster than the fascinate. Overall I think you will be happy with the DX as it is in my opinion a better phone than the fascinate.

Awesome, thanks everyone! Yeah, I am pretty excited to try the new phone. Samsung support for the Fascinate has actually been pretty bad. It took us forever to get Froyo and the updates since have done have not helped. The tech I spoke to at Verizon said she used to have the Fascinate and really liked the phone, but got rid of t because of all the issues. She didn't even press me to restore the phone to factory because she knew it wouldn't help. So I guess luckily I got someone who has actually used the phone and knew of the issues. She assured me that the Droid X would be a suitable replacement. I will come back here and let you guys know which phone I actually end up receiving, the X or the X2.

I was wondering though, do you guys know if the cases for the Droid X and the X2 fit both phones? From what I can tell they do, but wanted to make sure before I ordered some....

DX1 cases will work with the DX2 but the DX2 does not have a dedicated camera button so there will be a opening were the button would be.

Ah gotcha. Hrmmm, I wonder which phone people here prefer, the X or the X2? Seems like both have their good and bad points. Got my notifications that the phones shipped, but nothing saying what phone models were shipped. Supposed to be here tomorrow by 3, so luckily I dont have to wait in suspense for too much longer. Looking for cases right now, not sure yet which one I am going with...

I've had my DX without apparel for a year and it still looks new. I'm pretty careful with my electronics though...your mileage may vary.

Awesome. I am really excited to try it out and see how it compares to my Fascinate, but I really don't think it's gonna be too much of a competition after all the trouble I have had :)

I love the DX, just don't like MotoBlur. I think it's the biggest issue most have with the DX. You might want to look into some of the available ROMs. I run Apex2.0. It really showcases the DXs capabilities.

Cool, thanks for the info. I think I will definitely be back here a lot in the next few days exploring and trying to get the most out of the phone. I will definitely look into Apex!

Well, thanks for all the help. After spending a lot of time at the store and on the phone they decided to send me a replacement, and they sent me the Droid X2... So far, so good. I do miss the camera button, but after a day I am really enjoying this phone. I just didn't want to leave you guys hanging, so thank you all for the help! Wish me luck on this one :)

I and my kid have the DX. My wife has a DX2. Good friend has a DX2. After using theirs, the DX2 is definitely faster. I don't see a difference in the screens but some people seem to. i prefer the dedicated camera button of the DX though.
