Coming SOON: May 31- HTC Evo V (4G)- ICS

What I meant was the functionality of the 3D screen was only on limited functions.
The whole phone isn't running in 3D like..Say the handheld game console named the 3DS.

True... I guess it's sorta like a 3D movie. Not everything is 3D but there still are elements of it that are. Like I'm pretty sure you can watch 3d movies and pictures I don't know if that's all there is or not though lol.

That's what I'm curious about too. How it would make a 3D movie like The Titanic look.
I'm wondering if there are different layers of 3D, Are they all compatible or do some only work if you are wearing glasses?
I know 3D is created by putting multiple frames of the same still picture over each other, But is all 3D created equal?
Like for example the Evo 3D has two cameras, Wouldn't there be other 3D photos that are created with more than two still frames?

I wouldn't want everything in 3D anyways.

I would if there was a density control like there is on the 3DS.
You can control the view between 2D and 3D.
You can have it be anywhere between each.

I just wonder how many frames it takes of each to create such a wide spectrum of 2D and 3D.

Here you go: Active 3D versus Passive 3D

If you want to see a 3D image in a 2D plane (on your HDTV), you need a way to show your eyes slightly different images--that's how you "trick" your brain into perceiving depth. The easiest way to do this is to wear glasses that can help to present a different image to each eye. (Smaller displays, such as the one found on the Nintendo 3DS, don't need glasses because the display itself is designed to show each eye a slightly different image, but this technology doesn't work well enough for larger displays quite yet.)

Active-shutter glasses are actually small LCD screens that alternately dim the left and right "lenses" in succession. They rely on an infrared signal emitter in the TV that tells each pair of glasses when they should dim each lens, so each eye can see the image intended for it. Since active-shutter glasses are fairly complicated electronics, they're pricey: A typical pair usually runs about $150, and works only on 3D TVs made by the same manufacturer. They depend on batteries to keep running, too. What's more, they're kind of heavy--especially if you're already wearing prescription eyeglasses--which can make watching a whole movie somewhat uncomfortable.

Anybody going to change over and why (if you dont mind). If my money is right I will hopefully the roms from the HTC EVO 3D roms will work for HTC EVO V because of the Optimus S and V are same so they roms can be worked on each other. I am hoping that the roms will work if so i will be switching mainly because of the roms.

I remember reading that the 3D capabilities are for 3D pictures and 3D video's. I know it can display what it took in 3D (Pics and vids) but I'm not sure about external content. Other than that, everything else is 2D afaik.

(I'm still a little dissapointed in the removal of the kickstand xD)

Awesome. I really hate the way the Evo looks... I'd much prefer they brought in a Galaxy Nexus or something alike with the same specs. The soft buttons on the Evo look... ugly... Plus EVERYONE has that phone (lots of girls too >.>).

Are the current 3G plans going to go down in price?

I *love* the way the evo v looks.. lol. Of course, that's my opinion.

I wonder when it'll get it's own subforum.

There are no buttons on that phone. It's all touch screen. I've seen nothing to indicate that "everyone" has that phone (it hasn't even been out a full year yet), much less "lots of girls". Unless there's an online survey with these numbers somewhere?

No. The prices are not going down. ;)

I'll be switching cause it's overall a better phone. Dual core, ICS shipped, albeit with Sense 3.6. I think they'd have to do a bit of tinkering with the ROMs to get it to work on VM's version of the phone.

i nearly threw money at virgin mobiles phone line! does anyone know where i can preorder? i want it the FIRST DAY i dont even care haha my triumph needs a rest :(

EVO V is coming up by the end of the month. Just a quick question for y'all. Will you think about purchasing the EVO V? I bought my MT at $299, and the EVO V is going to be same price as well. My MT work fine beside the under screen dust kinda bother me some how. It looks like it is another good phone for prepaid service. However I won't spend another $300 for it right away, may be wait til Christmas for a price drop.
(If I posted in the wrong place please move or delete it. Thanks)

Wait til Cyber Monday if you want to get it cheap.

The Verge says the phone has 4GB of internal memory when the HTC website clearly says 1GB. So which one is correct?

What do they mean "looks like"? Is the 3D screen removed, or are they guessing based on a photograph or are they basing this strictly on the new rebranded name?

What a teaser, if I still able to use my $25 plan would be awesome! Well I'll probably wait til the price drop / discount around $200. Is it possible??

So this means that it'll have 1GB of memory and 4GB of internal storage.

It will have 1gb of user storage though. The other 3gb is taken by android, sense, and boatware.

Eventually I suppose. It may not be for a while though... Like a few months.
