Comparing EVO plan to other national carriers

There is month by month. You just would have to pay full price for the phone, but wouldn't be locked into a contract.

Edit: But you already have the phone, so it wouldn't matter about buying it full price.

I don't think so...I believe all new activations require a 2 year contract.

Sprints roaming, while free, is limited.
you can't go over half of your monthly allotment(450 mins)
or they can terminate your contract/line without notice
 
Sprint phone reps have told me that Evo won't be sold by Sprint off-contract because they're trying to link each phone to a contract plan.

At some point someone's going to get one at full retail though, just maybe not directly through Sprint.

I was under the impression the free roaming was pretty much standard for all four major carriers. With maybe some slight differences.

I've been with Sprint for many years now, and I've always been satisfied overall. Few minor issues here and there, but all things considered I'm happy.

Interesting, I picked up Sprint's Plan packet last night, since I'm interested in test driving the EVO for a months. It says:

All Plans include at no additional charge:
*Nationwide Long Distance and No Roaming Charges.

I will ask the Sprint Rep, but from what I was led to believe, Roaming is free with no restrictions.

But seriously, how many people will touch their 450 minutes, due to free cell to cell (any carrier) calls, nights starting at 7pm, and free weekends. And how much time do you spend roaming ?

yes of course... Roaming is free... No charges..

but if you are in an out of town area for a long time.. say 3 months .. then they will look at your activity and see if it is profitable for them to keep you on that plan.

if you are still in a Sprint covered area.. Nothing will change. if you are out of their area and are constantly in another providers network, then they are loosing $$. They have the right to cancel the contract. Sprint has a very large covered area, so you should not have any issues.

My sister got her account setup in Austin tx for college and would come back to Dallas for summer. then moved to Florida. never had issues with it, and only changed to Florida after a yr there.

it is hard to use up the 450min, unless you use it for work too

it's free yeah lol
but when i got sprint and i didn't have the airave box
i was roaming and i wanted to make sure i wasn't going to get
murdered with roaming charges but she quickly told me it was
free but that they only allow you to roam so much.

Kind of like the cap on certain data services...they put a cap on
roaming
 
one also big benefit of Sprint....
upgrades every year on phones
but you have to renew your 2 yr contract at time of upgrade.

I dont think the other carriers have this fast upgrade benefit.

Verizon has something similar.
