Complete phone idiot. Questions about Gingerbread / ICS?

Did you download the Samsung Fascinate drivers first? I had the same problem until I installed the drivers manually.

EDIT: Yes, you will need 2 of those files, the 3rd file is actually used to recover your phone should anything go wrong. The .pit file. I'd get that one also.

The link to the Fascinate drivers is somewhere in this thread. I have actually flashed about 6 roms on my phone since yesterday so I am pretty good with the whole process now also lol.
 
yes i downloaded driver manually when i did it. Did u download ODIN? As long as odin recognizes ur phone u can root it.
 
Hey BDog, I ended up using the DEVIOUS build after all xD

I ran into an issue where I lost my 3g due to the ST flash, I'm working on getting that back though.

Now I just need to figure out how to add in the custom screen when I reboot my phone. I saw one of an android crapping out an apple. I must have that rofl.

Well that is my first priority because I shut my phone off at work so I get a chance to see it daily haha.

Also, when you start the phone up it asks if you want to use trebuchet or nova launcher.

I'm assuming I should tell it to use Nova as default? I've tried both and other than the look of the start buttons they seem the same to me.


EDIT: I literally just installed DEVIOUS like 2 hours ago. So I probably have the new one assuming he updated the link lol.
 
yeah it looks like he did finally. lol anyway yeah use nova as default and just just save so u dont always have to choose. it has way more features. u can start to look up custom folder patterns, icons, all sorts of stuff.

Yea. One thing I like a lot is the fact data usage is built in. Apparently if I go over 2 gb on ST they will instantly just kinda shut me off lol. I don't want that >.>

So where would I go to read how to install the boot screen? I want to show off my android eating the apple lol.
 
ok i got u. do u have astro installed? if not go to market and download astro file manger.
Then download this and put it on ur sd card. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4r43s0b4jxoakzl/Root%20Explorer-60.apk
then open astro and go to manger file and go to that file. click it then hit install. this is a root explorer. now once this is installed.. download this file and put it on ur SD. https://www.dropbox.com/s/t33g3vhd3obrnsm/bootanimation.zip
Now open root explorer and scroll to SDcard. now scroll to that file...called boot animation. long press and click move. now hit back couple of time till u get to original screen. now scoll to system. then scroll to media. paste the file there. when/if it says it cant hit lil grey box to put it into r/w. then hit paste. it will ask if u wann copy file hit yes. then reboot.

One of the files says it takes 5hrs to download :confused:
 
ok well thats a new one..try this..go to device manager on comp. go to android phone. right click and scan for hardware changes. let me know
