Help Connect via WIFI problems

I have the next problem:
My HTC Hero customROM won't to connect wireless to internet. I use d-link wireless router N dir-615. I tape network SSID and password, but it say...not in range..i tape SSID and it say...forget! What configurations need on my router or my phone to connect wireless to internet?

  • The router must be operating in either mixed (802.11g/n) mode or 802.11g only. The Hero's wireless chipset is unable to operate in 802.11n mode.
  • The SSID must also be visible, at least initially. I've never disabled SSID broadcast on my router(s) to see if this requirement was lifted with later updates.
  • Ensure that the router's wireless security settings aren't blocking new devices by default.
 
the problem which u all guys r encountering is the IP ADDRESS problem....
the problem is the phone might not support the DYNAMIC IP ADDRESS...
so solution:
1)download the ALL SHARE application or if u hav one connect via this application...this application has never failed for solving this problem
2)another method is quite boring n time-consuming...this method is abt connecting to wifi through the settings of wi-fi connectivity n then entering the ip address everytime and so...

IN MY OPINION GO FOR THE 'ALL SHARE' METHOD...this will solve ur problem :)
 
i'm having a similar issue with my htc desire. it happens with the stock browser and also with dolphin browser hd (the other apps that use the internet work fine) and only when i'm connected to my home wifi router, a trendnet tew-652brp.
did anyone find the cause of this issue? i'm aware that i might be able to get it working at home, by trying different settings (although i would mind switching the n mode off as i use it the pc for downloads a lot) but i think the important thing is to know the cause.
i've found some ppl say that it might be a dns issue. do you guys know any app that might let me debug this on the phone? this might help with arguing with my isp in case this turns out to be their fault. i haven't talked to them yet, did anyone try that?

You are probably better off posting in the 'Desire' category.
Personally, I have had no issues with my HERO since updating to 2.1 (it even worked in Greece on the hotel WiFi)
 
Greetings I just registered to tell all of you with belkin router issues that I solved it very easily no messing about with static ips or anything. Have had a sensation xe for about a week and spent most of that time trying to get on my wifi. my router is about 4 years old so hope this will work for some of you.
If your htc device has WPS(wi-fi protected setup) in the wireless settings enable it with the wireless on, now somewhere on the back of the router should be a small button with a padlock above it hold, that down for 5 seconds and the padlock symbol on the front will flash and then thats it you should be connected. no need to change any complicated settings. Hope this helps some of you guys out am in UK so dont know if it will be same in the US
 
Please check the Channel on which your router is broadcasting.

Mine was set to 13 ... then I set it to Auto, and immediately could connect!

I think some of the higher channels don't work on all systems.
