Root Considering a return to Icarus.

Kind of entertaining reverting to Icarus. CM6 has been good, but alarm issues and a few key apps won't show, and now it is rebooting on it's own. CM7 is art, but kills my batt. Icarus is a rock. No FCs no issues. Thoughts anyone?

If you are happy with using Icarus I see no downside. You have to use what makes you comfortable and serves you best. I'm personally happy with Cm7. I find it to suit me and what I like/need in my phone. No matter who says what, You are the one who needs to be satisfied and content. :]

iuno man, i use my phone A LOT!
but honestly i can go like a WHOLE day without charge and phone doesnt die, my battery icon is like dark orange redish but battery stay on, i think the battery icon is broken and not like the actual battery bro, but if i were u i wud stick to cm7 becuz goin back to icarus is gonna feel laggy nd slow, i gaurentee u will flash back over to cm

Wow. You were one of the people that i thought would never go back after using the CM roms. I guess what ever makes you happy. We will see after a few days if you come back to the dark side. Good luck.

I'll throw in my two cents. Before returning to ICARUS,I'd try tweaking a couple things first, namely CPU SETTINGS,fix permissions,& wipe the battery stats using CWM.If you haven't done these things, give it a shot, run CM7 for a week or so & I bet things will settle in & you'll stick w/CM7.
I myself went straight from stock/rooted 2.1.1 to CM7 (05092011) .I've only had CM7 for 1 day & I can safely say there is absolutely no way I'm switching to anything else.Kiss all that lag, bloat & sluggishness ADIEU!

Sticking with CM6 for now, patiently waiting for a fix of some sort for CM7. Don;t know what got into me last night, must have been possessed or something. I will try the battery tricks, so thanks for the help you guys. @MoneyHoarder Hope I have reaffirmed your faith.

I too was thinking about going back to Icarus because of the battery issue and the fact that Neither CM6/7 would play through my car stereo like Icarus did. BUT. I have to say, after a few reboots and letting the phone charge fully, i have had NO problems with it. I work third shift and play music through my bluetooth headset and ALSO play words with friends ALL night long...and I have had NO battery issues. Like isaac said, afyter the first initial flash...give it time to settle in and things will return to normal.

Still though. REALLY wish I could plug this into my radio and listen to my music. Loved that with Icarus. Any ideas on what i could do if possible?

Not sure on the music thing man. Sorry. I am going to try the battery stats trick and reflashing CM7 this morning. I remember that the last few times I flashed it was at around 50% battery so hopefully that fixes it.

My guess on the music thru a stereo thing is because the stock autorun.iso isnt in Cm6/7 like it was on stock and imod. Reason being its 11.4MB and CM7 is developed for around 10 devices, not including the ascend.

I will experiment and see if I am correct on this, purdy sure I am and pip agrees.

God is watching...always watching. About to reflash 7 with full batt and reseting stats. Will update.

I was thinking to go back to Icarus.... Will reflash again, and if i still will have camera problem, i'll be back with Icarus.

You have to use what works for you. People can't sway me on what to use on my phones, devices, computers, etc.

Icarus and stock will always be a safe bet. Huawei has the luxury of a whole slew of people working on a project. They have quality control (questionable) and they wouldn't dare release a project that wouldn't work across all Ascend regardless of the differences in hardware.

But would Huawei ever put Gingerbread on the Ascend? Probably not. It's definitely possible. If a hobby programmer like me could do it, it would be really sad if a company worth of $25 billion dollars couldn't. Gingerbread doesn't feel all too comfortable on a phone like this. The hardware just sucks on it.

But I'll be damned if it wasn't interesting running Android 2.3 on the Ascend. :D

If stock or Icarus is your best choice, use it. If CM7 floats your boat, use that. I'm not sure why people make such a big ordeal over these things...

Amen to that, its all on the user to use what they feel comfortable using, but only thing others might suggest is flash and try out new roms and see, plus what might works for them might not work for you, remember every ascend is different.

First off, I want to say thanks for all the help. In no way, shape, or form was I "complaining". I know it is ALL a work in progress and that it was NEVER intended for the ascend. I for one (and I think I can speak for "almost" everyone) ABSOLUTELY love CM7. I like the features. All I had to do was (like pip said) was let the battery drain completely and now I am running perfect. I was just wondering if there was something extra I could put on the phone to be able to hook it up to my car stereo like I was doing with Icarus. Maybe put the drivers on somehow? IDK. Anyway.
Thanks again for an OUTSTANDING job getting 2.3 onto the ascend. awesome job!!!

I was wrong about the autorun.iso just being changed out. After talking with isaac, theres no simple fix for the stereo thing. If thats a feature you just cant live w/o then icarus is you best bet.

Thanks, I messed with it on n off all afternoon. Then talked to isaac earlier this evening about n was informed what ever made that work correctly is in the huawei code in stock n imod.

I have nothing going on tomorrow, so I will reflash 7, and let the battery go. I want 7 to work. I really do.

Yep. I flashed a new build, Then let it die completely. Then I went and let it get to full charge, As soon as I got full charge I went and wiped battery stats in CWM. I then let it die again. My max so far on Cm7 is 25 hours. I was at 2 percent when I had to charge it. I did not keep it over clocked the whole time. I set it at 480 - 122 when I would sleep, Or not use my phone for a while. I also kept the display brightness down to a minumum unless it was necessary that I had to have it brighter. I did leave on wifi most of the 25 hours though. A good 12-16 hours of that though I was running 729.

Just do what makes you happy. If you are always busy looking for flaws with everything you use, You'll never truly be happy with anything. Humans are not perfect, Therefore things we create will not be either. :]

Flashed the new build this AM, whatever was wrong with the last build is fixed. Reset the batt stats for good measure, but all is right with the universe again. Good battery life, and smooth sailing.
