Considering this phone

Hi folks, I'm looking into a larger phone and and thinking about this one. I would be buying a used one and using it on prepaid TMobile. I don't talk a lot, text often, don't have wifi in my room, but don't use data a lot when out and about (though probably would if I had a phone/battery that could handle it) so the $30/5gb plan is the frontrunner. I'd be buying within the next month.

Some questions-

-How well does the HDMI work? I do not have wifi in my room and it'd be nice to hook the phone up to a tv and watch Netflix and such. Since I don't actually OWN a tv :D what do I need IT to be capable of?

-I would probably buy the 2000 Samsung battery. With occasional calls, somewhat frequent texts, keeping data off except when checking email and such, no games, what kind of battery life might I expect? I keep data off via Quick Settings on my Virgin Optimus unless I'm using it and would do the same here.

-Is the TMobile version pentaband? I will be going to Germany (mostly Heidelberg) for 3 weeks this summer and would like be able to get at least 3g speeds as I will not have wifi where I'm staying.. Any recommendations on a data-friendly prepaid plan? Are the international SGS2's also pentaband? I've never seen one listed online for sale.

-How practical is it to change sim cards between two phones? I work beach volleyball and even though I'm careful with my stuff and keep my OV in a sandwich bag I really don't want to take a $300 phone into sand hell. :D I would like to unlock and use one of several AT&T flip phones we have; I'd also like to take one with me to Germany to swap around when needed.

-How hard is it to port my Virgin number to TMobile? I have no interest in going all voip. Upon ever getting a real job I'd likely bump up to a higher prepaid plan (the $60 or $70 plan).

-I have no interest in having the latest phone with the latest OS. This will last a while, so please no recommendations for an SGS3 or the like (though the Note is always calling my name!).

Finally- I am a cheap bastard and very reluctant to spend 300 bucks on a CELL PHONE. Help convince me (the guy who used the hell out of dumbphones for years, even for email and web surfing)! :D

Why's that? I don't care to have the latest and greatest and i have a great potential deal on a new one. I'm not one to swap, or fool myself into thinking I NEED to swap, phones frequently. "Outdated" is thrown around so much in the phone world. Hell, the only issues I have with my OV is that it's a bit small for my hands (and I want to use it on different plans) and if I had the kind of wifi exposure lots of people on the internet say they do I'd just rock out my SGP.
