Help Contact confusion

I have a friend, she changed her email recently... I updated it on my phone.

I'm on my computer today and I go to email her, it's the old email address. Confused as to why it didn't propagate. Then I notice it's also missing her physical address.

So I look her up on my phone, information is all correct... but it's labelled as a VZ Contact instead of a google contact. I have no idea what this fragmentation is about, but I want all my contacts backed up to google not verizon. Any one know what may be going on with my address book? And more importantly, a good way to fix it without losing any contacts?

Turns out I just had 9 or 10 contacts in this situation so I moved them by hand... leaving the thread in place in case any one else is interested though.

Probably "Verizon Backup". I don't see 'verizon contacts' as any sort of option on my phone. I'm guessing you have "vz backup assistant" enabled and its getting into your business. Disabling it was the first thing I did after unlocking my phone (you don't need to unlock or root to disable it).

To disable, go to Settings > Apps > All - scroll down to VZ backup assistant. Click on it. Then click on disable.

Hope this helps.

Just make sure from now on when you create a new contact you choose your google account (there will be a popup when you create it asking if you want it to use your google account, VZW backup, or phone only) i ALWAYS choose google account.

Thanks both... I had been choosing google, but apparently on my old phone I had setup a few contacts and it had persisted them. Some had both a google and VZ contact making it very fun.

Thanks again.
