Root Continulous Boot Loop, Cant get to Clockwork!

that is indeed odd, especially since this was completely random. did you mess with setcpu and overclocked it too high or something like that? well you can take your chance with a sprint tech and see. just do not mention that you are rooted. the only thing that might suck is that they might not notice that you are rooted but they might update you and you will definitely loose root.
well everything that i can think of would just give you a boot loop. the only other thing we can try is using a ruu from your computer, but in order for that to work is that you need access to your sd card through your phone. since you cannot boot up or go into recovery, the only thing is to try and take it in. not sure what else you can do.

Which would make me think that it is the recovery or something around that area that has gone bonkers..?

Okay, how about this (if all else fails...)
1. Remove battery.
2. Remove SD card.
3. Place both in a nice spot (say dresser).
4. Place phone under mattress.
5. Call sprint, tell them a farce about how the phone might have been stolen.
6. New phone a few days later ? (but without root...)
Not a solution, not quite ethical, and probably not what you're looking for, but it's an option. (only if you have the theft warranty or whatever)

it should not really matter which recovery it is to install. it should have worked either way. the only thing maybe is to try re-downloading the file and try again through hboot.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. This has been on ongoing and unsolved issue with CM ROMs. It is rare, but your scenario has and does happen. I remember reading about it on XDA months ago and steered clear of CM ROMs because of it and knowing my luck.....

I'm having the same problem, started today, I've followed as much as I understand in this thread and the several links to it, trying to flash the new RA and a new Clockwork in order to at least get into the recovery, where we could actually make some progress, but reboot and recovery both send it back to the HTC EVO 4G splash, then looping from there. Maybe I'm missing something, but the threads I've read so far, most people haven't had much success fixing this issue

Welcome to AF! Can you get to hboot? Do a battery pull then power on while holding volume down.....Tell us what happens.

Is there an RUU for 4.24 by chance? I am curious as to whether an hboot update would fix this problem. It seems that the bootloader is getting corrupted somewhere along the way and is not able to find recovery or anything else once it happens. Running the RUU for the current hboot will just skip installing I believe and go on to the next thing. If we can upgrade hboot to 2.16 while keeping s-off, it might fix the issue and retain root. Does this sound plausible?
Have you tried running an RUU from your pc rather than the PC36IMG.zip?
Found both the RUU exe and the PC36IMG file for 4.24. Taking forever to download but I will put up a dropbox link for them when they are done. Maybe he can give it a shot and see what happens.....can't be any worse off than he is at this point.

Give this a try. Download this file, rename it PC36IMG and put it on the root of your sdcard. Reboot to hboot and tell it to update. Hopefully it will update your hboot version to 2.16, flash the stock recovery and stock rom but leave you with s-off. My thought is that it might correct the loop you are getting in.
I can indeed get into my hboot, but Recovery and Reboot and Power Down send me right back into the bootloop, very much like the sound of the OP's problem, not sure if it's where I used RomManager to flash CM7, or KernelManager to flash SavagedZen, or if it's just my luck. I heard from a friend at Sprint to clear my cache and Dalvik cache three times each, then try to reboot, but I'm not sure how to do that from hboot, I can do it through Recovery, but I can't even flash a custom recovery to get back into Clockwork.
ok so lets try something before we try xtreme's suggestion. lets give you another custom recovery and see if this helps.
1. so downlod this file and delete the "RA 2.3" part of the name leaving the PC36IMG.
2. transfer it to the root(no folder) of your sd card.
3. go to the hboot screen. it should find the file and select yes to update.
you should now have amon ra 2.3 as you recovery. hopefully you can then boot to recovery. once there you can then wipe dalvik cache, cache, and data. hopefully you have a rom on your sd card that you can flash.
and i would never use rom manager or the kernel manager. they tend to be buggy and create issues like this. i would always do things in recovery.
hope this works. if not then we can try xtreme's idea.

Not sure if you meant to add a link or anything in your post, but I don't see one But if either of you can help me fix it, you can't imagine how grateful I'd be, I'm using a Samsung Moment *shudder* until I get my Evo fixed, or a new one. You may well be right and your assistance is also very much appreciated, I'll see what happens with Ocn's solution, and if it doesn't work, yours is next in line, nothing else has fixed it so far

I'm searching for a CM7 download atm so I can put it on my SD card, using my digital camera as a ghetto card reader /facepalmUpdated and everything, rebooted back into hboot, then recovery and another loop, slightly discouraged, but I'm not about to give up and buy another $400 phone
ok then lets try xtreme's file and see. just do the same thing as you just did. this will give leave your phone in a weird state as you will have the new hboot 2.16 (which is not rootable) but it will leave you will s-off. it will also give you a stock rom and stock recovery(which you will not have access to) so all you would need to do is use the file i gave you earlier to add back the custom recovery.
2.16 isn't rootable, but it leaves my S-Off, wouldn't that mean it's rooted, just odd? I would still be able to use RA, and install CM7 though? All this is way over my head lol

2.16 with s-on isn't rootable. With s-off though, you can flash a custom recovery and the rom of your choice after. I am hoping that this will replace your current bootloader and fix the loop issue when trying to boot normally or go to recovery.
