Help Controlling data - 3G vs wifi ..

Basic question ..

Does the S2 default to data transfer via wi-fi whenever it is available (as opposed to via mobile network) ?

Or is there a special setting to ensure this happens ?

I'm looking to tightly control data usage on this phone, having come off an unlimited package to 100MB. This unlimited package was a free loyalty reward but I had to sacrifice to get the S2 for

Wifi will always take preference over data. You've done all you can, just only switch data connection on when really needed and you should be okay.

For the bloat ware you either need to root your device or upgrade to ICS to remove it. But they cannot use data if connection not open anyway.

Apps will also not use data if set to only refresh manually (Accuweather) or don't have an account/sync configured (Yahoo! Business, Twitter, FB etc).

A good app to help monitor your data usage is 3G Watchdog pro. It also gives you app by app data usage. Most accurate of the ones I've used.
