Coolest Feature,Tip,Trick or App you have found For the Note 2

Day 1 of owning this phone - I took a pic of my dog, selected it with the intention of emailing it... I thought the icon, above the selected pic, of a monitor with squigly lines was it, but it didn't do anything (so I thought), so I tried the next icon over and Bingo, that was what I was looking for, and completed the email... my wife starts yelling at me from the living room "hey, how did you do that?" I didn't know what she was talking about until I walked into the living and saw the pic displayed on the TV... Well I'll be... I had no idea the phone and TV had already introduced themselves. Now I know what that monitor icon does :)

I don't see a monitor icon, where's it located?

I was in a pub last night and there was a power cut so we had no lights for an hour, just candles. I downloaded "Tiny Flashlight" which uses your phone's flash as a torch and I was OK then.BTW the fact I managed to download a 1.27mb app confirms that the GN2 does get better 3G reception.

Did you know that we can get this app to switch on with a single tap?

Normally when you tap on the app's icon, another tap is needed before the light turns on. Instead of the app's icon, use the 1x1 widget created by this app. Then it's instant on with a single tap!

It's on the menu bar above the photo, between the camera icon and the share icon... if you don't have this option, then perhaps I'm getting this through the Kies Air app? I downloaded this app trying to move data from my old phone, which ended up not being Kies compatible, to this phone. This app ties into devices in your wifi, although I can't see my TV listed, but it's the only thing I can think of if this is not a default Note 2 function.

Are you saying from the picture gallery? If so, between camera & share I got nothing.

AllShare Cast
This was the only icon I could find that looked like a monitor.

That was a guess on my part due to not knowing what the monitor icon was supposed to be. Allshare was the closest.

OK, this is what I see when I select a photo... the icon I'm referring to is the one in the middle.

just a guess...

maybe because his phone found a compatible TV.. then it shows the icon and feature to be available.

While on the lock screen, we have all seen the water effect a finger does on the screen. Pull out your s-pen while on the lock screen and you get a inky water effect. Useless, but pretty cool. I saw an option to turn ink on/off in the lockscreen settings, but never understood what it did.

While in landscape mode, you can put your finger at the very top of the screen (the top when you are in landscape mode) and pull down. It will then show you the thin bar with the time, signal strength..... Pull down on that and you can see your notifications. I think this is a great feature as on my Note 1 you had to exit the app to go to notifications and some apps would force you to start over when you came back to it.

I know this is not the proper place to ask but I cant start a thread since im new here. Please pardon my question, which by the way is: I have the Tmobile version of the Note 2 and my home screens dont go into landscape mode but pretty much all else does. Is this normal? I have a MHL cable on the way, will landscape mode work then? Thanks in advance!!

Then I was right. :D
Allshare Cast has to find the compatible Tv and once it does that monitor icon appears in gallery.

Give me my gold star ★

If you have words / Phrases that you often add into text (such as your email address) then it can be a pain to write them out each time.

What you can actually do is write it out once, select it and then copy it to your clipboard. That way when ever you want to input your email address just paste it in from the clipboard. (Long Hold on the icon to the left of the space bar and click the clipboard icon)

Unlike a windows PC the clipboard remains even when the phone is reset so the contents will not dissapear.

Finally to make this even better go into your clip board, long hold on the item you want to keep and select "Lock to Clipboard". That way when you clear your clipboard of its contents it wont delete this item.

Is there a way to use short cuts like you can on Iphone?

That's a function of samsung phones. The homescreens cannot be viewed in landscape mode. You would have to use a replacement launcher to view the home screens in landscape.

For anyone that missed it, I went though and found every cool feature/option that I use to show off the phone here. It covers the S-Pen, Motions, Gallery, Video Player, Camera, Video Recorder, S-Voice and the menu button

Hey guys, I found a shortcut to enable one-handed keyboard. When you are on the 'normal' keyboard, pinch the screen using both thumbs from the edges of the keyboard. What I usually do is holding the 'Symbol' and 'L' buttons and bring them to the center.

And also there is an app called Photo Reader. You can take a picture of a text or anything, and the app will generate it to be a real text (on ur phone). If you already install it, there will be new icon on the input setting of the keyboard

Hope this help!

There are a few apps that can make your home screens go to landscape mode. I have only tried this free one. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDEsImNvbS5kZXZhc3F1ZS5yb3RhdGlvbmxvY2tlciJd
It will cut off part the very bottom row of apps, but it is better than having to twist your head around. It isn't obvious from the app description, but this will make your home screens landscape.

No, like literally tap the top of your phone twice. As if were patting a dog's head or something.
That took me a little while to figure out. I was tapping on the top of the screen like junkeeroo. Finally I tried double tapping on top of the phone and BOOM. It is a nice feature, but while going through contacts in my car I found that bumps/vibration will make it go to the top when you don't want it to. I have a truck so it is more of a harsher ride. Maybe it doesn't do it for people with plusher rides.

Just see the notifications bar flash briefly when I touch it??

LMAO!!! Exactly what I was doing. In the motion settings there is a help section. I ended up looking at that and it shows you how to do the motions. I felt like a dope afterwards. I was getting help here on the forum but just couldn't get it right.
