Hi

I am trying to copy video files greater than 1 gb to my galaxy note 2.But windows explorer stops and restarting when I try to do so.How can I copy these files to my phone(Note 2)??

Thanks.

I use Android File Transfer and it works great. I use it to copy over all my music and movies to the SD card on my Note 2. I've noticed that AirDroid can be a little fickle when it comes to larger files. It's great for smaller files or moderate syncing capabilities but it always seemed to crash on me whenever I tried moving larger files over.

Are you copying them to the phone storage or to a micro-sd card?

I have a 64 gig micro-sd, I've copied 6 gig video files to it without a problem.
I think it's faster to unmount the card and copy the file to the card on a PC than
it is to copy them via usb cable.

Here's a little something I've noticed, since I first switched over to Android w/ the HTC Evo over 2.5 years ago. Windows File Explorer always seemed to crash, when I would try to perform a large copy paste function from the PC to the phone and vice versa...but...if I actually went through and copied folders (anywhere from 1 to 3 at a time), it would take much less time and have less problems. I try to pay attention to the folders that have more memory and make sure to copy and pastes those individually. Whenever I start to paste and the transfer window hangs a little without automatically going to progress, that's when I know that one of the folders I was trying to copy over is larger and would need to be done individually, so I automatically cancel and re-start the process.

This may seem a little more time consuming, but in the end, it really isn't. I successfully backed up all my internal storage and sd card files while at work (w/ exception to my music, which is roughly 33gb).

By contrast, I've attempted copying and pasting the entire external SD card onto a back-up drive and it's taken close to 24 hours to transfer all of the data, where the method I mentioned above probably will take 3-4 hours at the most (just to give you an idea, my internal storage has 8gb worth of data and external has roughly 24gb, not including music).

I use total commander with the LAN plugin. You can easily transfer anything you want no matter how big. It's great for streaming movies and music to your GN2 or tablet.

Note that if your file system is fat32 files are limited to 4gb;and if exfat (ala 64 sd cards) then there is virtually no limit.
Yeah, I formatted my 16GB cards to exFAT. I prefer using a card reader as that is the fastest method for transferring files. Wifi is extremely slow compared to my wired network for file transfers. Card to desktop avg around 20-25 MB/s and from desktop to NAS around 80-90 MB/s.

My wifi transfers are much lower than that.

And a hearty welcome to Android Forums, kalyan! :)

I'm using Linux Ubuntu and don't have any problems with file transfers. Pretty fast to!!
Windows is notorious for it though. And slow.

A cardreader plugged into the pc would be your best bet with a windows machine.
