Cost to visit hershey chocolate world

daughter been wanting me to take her for couple years as well, would love to hear from someone who has gone.......
 
i went three times last year . its a great park with some good coasters. there is even a zoo. exact pricing information can be found on there site, like every other theme park it has gotten expensive.

Chocolate World is the visitor center that provides information about the town and the factory and replaced the actual factory tour in the late '70s. Admission is free and is outside the amusement park gates. There is a short ride inside and a gift shop (of course).

The amusement park itself is rather expensive. You can find the regular ticket prices here: Hersheypark one day, two day, consecutive day tickets and season passes

However, Hershey regularly runs specials and coupons that discount the price of admission significantly. You can also wait until later in the season where prices drop a bit or enter in the evening where they have half-day rates.

Personally, I'd never go there, but that's because I worked there in college in the public relations department and can no longer stomach the smell of choclolate ;)
 
If you do go there on a weekend, get there before the gates open at 10:00. There are usually lines to get in, especially on Saturdays well before 9:00. And, once you get in, if you want to ride the coasters more than once, walk quickly past all the shops and hokey photo booths and go straight to the rides. Lines are horrible on weekends.

The older coasters will be on the right, like the Comet (oldest continually operating wooden coaster in the country) and the Super Duper Looper ... pretty mild by today's standards but it was state of the art when it was opened in 1977 (I think that's the right year.) What many people don't know about the looper was that on it's final test run, one of the cars came off the tow chain and rolled back over a maintenance worker, killing him and delaying the ride's opening for several weeks as additional safety checks were needed. Many to this day say the coaster is haunted. During employee nights where they keep the rides running after hours for employees only, we rode the Looper 7 consecutive times with the breaks off in the station. After the third time or so, it got pretty boring.

The newer coasters are to the left after get past the shops and pretty far in. Best is to go to the last coaster and work your way back. You'll avoid a good bit of the lines that way. Oh, and unless you like the smell of puke, never ride the coasters right after lunch on hot days.
 
Hershey and Chocolate shouldn't be terms uttered in the same sentence, Cadbury and Chocolate, Lindt and Chocolate now those I can get to grips with their entire product ranges created by master chocolatiers. Hersheys is god awful at best. Bleurgh.....So glad Kraft won out in the bidding for the company but what worries me is the lack of understanding from the major US firms such as Hershey and Kraft is their lack of a philanthropic interest in chocolate and lack of understanding of the art form it entails to create truly heavenly chocolate.
 
We were there 2 weeks ago. Chocolate world is free as is 3hrs of parking there. But it's doubtful you'll walk out with a full wallet. There are tours and shows that will cost $7 and up per person, if you don't have discount tickets, just ask about discounts at the counter and you'll likely get a better deal. Then there's the fact that it's not much more than a huge gift shop. As for Herseypark, there are discount tickets available out there, my wife got a discount through work. One thing to keep in mind is park preview. The times are listed on the web page, but basically if you buy tickets you can come to the park the evening before you plan to attend and get in for free. We did most of the dry rides Friday night and spent the majority of Saturday in the water park.

I am its uncultured and tastes of cheap Mars and Nestle Chocolate you get in their easter eggs.

There isn't a Milk Chocolate out there that rivals Cadbury Dairy Milk and certainly nothing that compares to Green and Blacks or Lindts premium 90% Cocoa bars.

I'll quite happily arrange to send anyone a small bar to prove my point, Hersheys chocolate is uncultured and vulgar ;)

dont compare mercedes to toyotas
 
Mercedes to Toyotas?? This is more like comparing Rolls Royce crafted luxury to a Soviet Volga! (With Cadbury/Lindt being the Rolls Royce ;))

But that said Cadbury manage to craft fine chocolate and also sell it to the masses, they also understand and cater for even more refined tastes. That said Dairy Milk is quite literally only a slight tier below say a Mercedes lol.
 
I looked on AAA, no go for discount tickets. Look at local retailers nearby like grocery stores, fast food joints, gas stations, or hotels.

That's fine and good, but where would you buy Cadbury chocolates in the United States?

Yes I'm too lazy to Google it.
 
Depending on the age of your kids it can be inexpensive, my kids are too yong for most of the rides so we didn't go there, we went into the chotlate world muesum and paid for the little bus ride tour. Then we went down into Lancaster PA and road the strasburg railroad in the dining car and a couple of the other muesums and an amish buggy ride
 
Mmmm chocolate. *drools excessively* I like Hersheys! The park price is quite reasonable, I believe. Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood are both $75.

i lived in the poconos of pa for a few years and went to hersheys alot, i now live in orlando florida.. yes hersheys is a lot more reasonable than the parks here. but then again the parks here offer a whole lot more.
 
I live about 20 minutes from Hershey. Although I havent been to the park in a few years. If you are talking about the actual amusement park I think its about $40 a person for the day. If you are talking about Chocolate world last time I was there it was still free but thats been a really long time so Im not sure.

i was there last year and it was free.... its just a small ride and really nothing special... you can by candy though at a premium price of course
 
I remember when a few years back... Disneyland was at $55. I just can't imagine a family of 4 now paying $300 just to enter the park... let alone buy souvenirs, food, and anything else.

I did pay $130 though for the front of the line pass at Universal Studios Hollywood. Totally worth it.
