Could Apple lawsuit stop the s3 from being released for MetroPCS

I'm a big ole apple fan. However, this whole bunch of lawsuit B.S. has kinda turned me off of them. Un-deniably their products are awesome, and work as they should. That is what should elimenate the competition, simple to use perfect products. (I use android btw of course). Their whole strategy of have it banned so we're the only product to buy is absolutely insane. You don't do that cause you're bitter with google. Make a product that stands out as what you should by. Define that category. Don't try to do this crap. For the record, my first smart phone was an iphone. I LOVED it.... until I tried android.
 
I never did get Apple's attitude towards the market as a whole. They always seem to think that their products are unique and innovative when in fact, they are just very good at marketing. They rely on other manufacturers to give them the technology they use.

I wonder how much they are shooting themselves in the foot through this type of activity. I know corporations don't hold grudges like people do, but this type of attempt to control everything is exactly what creates the exception to that rule. If they aren't careful they'll be going back to the old days of trying to sell their products with a whole different set of parts, two or three generations behind everyone else (like the PPC days), where all the great marketing in the world can't save them.

You mentioned the Mac, let's look at that.

When the Mac was introduced in the 80s, it was kicking butt. Microsoft made their first fortune with Applesoft on the Apple][+ and were making money on the Mac.

Then they fired Steve Jobs and started producing the crappier 90s Mac.

Then he returned in the dot com days and brought the company back to life with the new Macs and OS X (great operating system) - but he couldn't overcome the damage wrought by the interim management, even with the best OS.

Napster happened, the mass market discovered mp3 music and players, and from that came the iPod and then the iPhone.

As of the last year, Apple has had more cash than Exxon (no joke), smartphones are outselling PCs and the world is turning to cell phones for their internet.

Apple makes hardware and software that locks you in to their hardware.

Apple got their cash in mobile devices, not Macs, and this last year, Android has been handing them their head on a stick.

They know what happened the last time they were bucks up and on top and lost market share. Despite having more money than anyone, they are suing to survive because they are out of markets.

As for the SGS3 on Metro - hope you get it, but newer models are just around the corner and they are still selling the SGS2. The SGS3 isn't going to die, no matter what. It might change form - and it might not.

The other thing is they cant go after Google Directly since there both based in California and Google has a stiller reputation for being a great company to work for. I wonder how much the fact Apple is based In California influenced the jury trial. Cali easily has one of the weakest economy around and Apple is a huge company. I wonder if the jury was perhaps persuaded to rule in Apple's favor for the simple fact there is a chance there could be repercussions to the state.

Personally I think the only way we can get a fair trial on something like this is to have it held in Europe. The very least a state that does not have a vested interest in one of the company's.

As far as what happens next I really think Samsung should stop selling to Apple that simple. I think company's in General need to stop supporting Apple. When there is a bully on the play ground the best way to handle it is to unite when its 25-30 vs 1 its not so much fun to flex that muscle push people around.

Yes I am very passionate about this subject and its not I hate Apple (I guess it could be said at this point I do). Its the fact Apple is pretty much the definition of a rotten company. They bully they lie they cheat and they steal what they want.

Well said breh. I said this in another thread in the lounge. This reminds me of when Harley Davidson sued and won against Honda for make a bike that sounded too much like there's. Lmao patent on exhaust sound? The jurors may have thought they were helping our economy but isn't apple made in china??

they're suing over a "bounceback feature" and "being able to zoom in by tapping the screen"? they're saying the tab ripped off the pad because it has round edges? i mean....WTF!?

this would be like nintendo suing sega for having a pause button and a D-pad or for having games where you can select between 1 or 2 players. this is as dumb as a bag of hair and apple is cutting their own throat by pulling this crap.

unless apple shows that samsung violated patents with their new devices they cant pull them or demand more money. some of apples claims have already been overturned.

samsung will fair much better in appeal before a judge. the jury ruling in apples favor is a travesty for consumer choice. the jusry by making this decision is opening a pandora's box that will allow a company to patent every single aspect of a phone to where no one can make anything even remotely similar to it.

i fail to see how a samsung galaxy S3, or note, or nexus looks like an iphone. are there similarities? of course there are. THEY'RE BOTH SMARTPHONES! but if you cant tell these devices apart you're just a very stupid individual.

no one should have been awarded anything. all these patent suits are absurd and should be thrown out of any and every court they're presented in just on the basis of principle and market sanity.

all in all the verdict was decided by a jury full of dumbarses. all or most of this is gonna get thrown out in appeal.

We did glitch for about 3 minutes around 2 am my time (it's 5:20 for me now) could've been teh intertubes ate your post.

We won't censor this for content or opinions - but we will for going overboard on harsh language or if others are attacked personally. (no big deal, exactly what we ask and say in the rules)

If someone stops in with an unpopular opinion on any of this issue, just show respect, attack ideas and issues, not the person posting. (required public service announcement, nothing on anyone here)

exactly but apple are really desperate to stop the samsung phenom along without other companies which mon mentioned seems they attack what they fear lol and concerning shapes lol i disagree with the jury on that theres no way u can patent shapes. i wish i was the judge in that court i would of dimissed the jury and decided on my own i mean if we are suing over patent technology then they cant sue over shapes or colors they would of have needed to open up a samsung product and prove that they were using same technology.
 
I think the main reason why apple started suing Samsung, HTC, Motorola is because their devices poses a threat to IPhone in terms of sales, looks and functionality. The "magic" the apple had since the original IPhone isn't so "magical" anymore and people are starting to see better options out there for them besides the IPhone. Also they are starting to realize that they cannot not keep up with the competition in terms of spec/features.
 
I really hope this doesn't affect the price of the GS3 for metropcs. We will just have to wait and see I guess. Too bad and sad patents.
 
dont think the looks should be a factor in this case unless it was a spitting image of the iphone or any other apple product. china has always been notorious with copying and counterfeiting electonics let me give ya valid reason to sue besides having curvy corners lol what a joke.

if samsung would of made a phone just like that fake one on that pic then i would of said ok apple has a point but no one here can find me a phone from samsung that looks just like the iphone.
 
Apple wont get any money for a long time. This ish will be help up in court for years. Only thing Apple did is loose potential customers. More and more people are switching to Android and honestly, the ONLY people I see with Iphones anymore is high school kids. What does that tell you?

Yeah iphones are just a fad. My cousin wants an iphone. I told him why get an I phone when you can get a s3, it has a way bigger screen, it's way faster, better camera, 4g, it's better in every single way and there about the same price. He just said that he doesn't care, that all his friends have it so he wants it too. That's how every iphone owner thinks.:rolleyes:
 
In case S3 will be affected by the lawsuit in anyhow in US, MetroPCS must release the S3 ahead of time before it's too late.

The S3 is not directly affected by the patent lawsuit, but after this jury verdict, Samsung would probably reconsider strategies on their phone lines for the US market, and in somehow the future of the S3.
 
That list is a joke. The big carriers could remove everything on that list and no one would even notice.
 
s2 is till being used and is really good i mean its a dual core just like the s3 us version so i really cant belittle it just cuz its 1 version behind, besides im sure theres lots of wiggle room to install new mods and what not.

True. I wasn't trying to belittle the phones. They are all good phones and have years of life-time left, by our standards.

It's just from a sale's/marketing perspective those phones are old news. It doesn't hit all that hard to drop them. Samsung is already starting to look past the S3 to the next big release. The carriers themselves will be looking at a whole new generation of phones relatively soon.

Apple is grasping at whatever they can do to hurt the competition. Normal Apple behavior though. Still fighting a generation or two behind while their competition just keeps moving ahead and leaving them behind.
 
Meh, no nexus, no note, no s3. Samsung skates.

They'll dump some phones that aren't driving their sales anyway, pay some money, and go back to kicking apple's a$$ with their top phones.
