Help Couldn't turn on my E3D yesterday. Anyone else had problems?

Yesterday afternoon, my Evo 3D stopped working. The screen was off, just like if I had pressed the power button, but I could not get it to come back on. I both pressed the power button and held it down, and nothing. I eventually pulled the battery, and then it came back.

Everything has been fine since then. I'm new to android. (This is my first android phone and I've had it less than a week.) so I don't know if this is normal or not. I'm just hoping this was a one time thing and not an indication of a bigger problem with the phone.

Anyone have any insight?

This has happened to me, but it's only been once. I restarted the phone to clear up the cache and what not and I tried to power it back on and nothing. I took the back casing off and put it back on and still nothing. Took the battery out and it worked after I put it in.

You know, I had this happen ONE time with my Sprint HTC Hero. It was the weirdest thing and I still cannot explain what caused it. It had plenty of battery charge left, but it just went black and I actually had to pull the battery to get it work again. In fact, since it was such a hassle getting my case off and pulling the battery, I chose that time to root my handset for the first time. :D

Anyway, it did that once six or seven months ago and has never done it since. Sometimes, I think these handsets just take a dump and need a battery pull. On the note of the power button, I noticed that the Sprint HTC EVO 3D at the store had a pretty mushy button, but the one on mine is actually pretty clicky and solid. Maybe the back cover just was not properly aligned on the store demonstration model. ;)

I've had this happen twice.

Once when the phone went completely dead and I hooked it up to charge. I waited less than a minute and attempted to turn it back on. All it did was light up the soft buttons when I pressed the power button, just like it would if I was turning the screen on and off. Had to do a battery pull.. but first had to get my Defender case off.. ugh!

Second time when the phone was fully charged and I went to unplug it. Screen never automatically came one when the charger was removed. But it instead, did the same as above.

But it's just a thing. It's gonna happen, expect it.
Don't get upset and run to Sprint for a new device. :P that would be just wrong. Lol

The only thing id like to know, is why it really happened. Probably operator error. Rofl.

This happens every so often to all of us. I think it's a display driver crash or an overall system lock up. Every computer does it. Even ones running iOS4. Although, it does happen more often when you're playing with ROMs and tweaking system attributes.

I'm already on my second replacement EVO 3D and it happened to me multiple times. Mostly with the first phone than my current one. When all hope is lost and you think the device has gone out completely after multiple power button pushes, just remove the cover and reinstall the battery... That usually works for me.

I wonder if that was an occurring problem with the regular EVO... Can anyone chime in with an answer to that?

I used to have to do this occasionally with my DX. Every great once in a while, I have to power cycle my Windows machine. Same with my Xbox. It's a computer thing, not an EVO thing.

Although, if it happens on a semi-regular basis, I would suspect an app is causing it. Computers goof up and trip all over themselves occasionally, but not on regular intervals.

ha, that happened to me a few times a week with my Hero. after 3 Heros I finally kept the one that did this, because it was the best one out of all 4 I had

Haha. I have actually had great luck with my Sprint HTC Hero. :D

It never gave me a problem and only had that one time where it needed the battery pulled, even after I rooted and flashed dozens of ROMs to it. I guess it is just the luck of the draw. ;)

Thank you and glad to see you as well. Us Sprint HTC Hero veterans have to stick together. ;)

Back on topic, hopefully, we do not experience any issues with turning on our shiny new Sprint HTC EVO 3D handsets. But if I do, I will report about it here.
