CPU Frequency

I have recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy S4 and am using an app called CPU Tuner. I was hoping to be able to save battery by underclocking my processor. Heres my problem, the profiles I apply with specific maximum frequency values do not stay applied, instead the max value goes back to default usually within 10 minutes. This happens with other apps and has become evident that the CPU simply does not favor any frequency other than the default. Is anyone else having such a problem or does anyone know how to fix it? You can only adjust the clock frequency if the kernel supports it, so you'll most likely have to flash a third-party kernel.

The best place to seek advice would be the (International) Galaxy S4 - All Things Root sub-forum.

Underclocking will usually do nothing to extend standby battery life anyway, it will just "throttle" a high performance phone when it needs that extra "power" (while youre using it)
Id check for wakelocks and as Slug says, have a look at custom kernels :thumbup:

A lot of kernel-controlling apps will also depend upon the busybox binary, which you won't have on your system if it's purely rooted stock.

Busybox is basically a nifty way of packaging a whole mess of standard UNIX commands into a single compiled binary: BusyBox - The Swiss Army Knife of Embedded Linux

Should i just trust that its there and it does good things?
