It happened in slow motion and all I could do is watch as the phone slipped from a stand 2 feet onto the counter below. Striking the left side about 3/4 of the way up. The phone came to a rest on its face. To my horror as I lifted it up I noticed a large smashed screen at the point of impact and various cracks throughout the screen. None of the screen came off because of the screen protector and the carrying case in which the TB was in stayed on. THANK GOD for Insurance but these phones have a new deductible as it was described to me and the cost was $99.00. I have dropped my droid and BB storm many times without incident and the first drop with the HTC SMASH. I had a friend that had the EVO 4G on sprint and said this was a common problem. Don't know if it was but be careful out there everyone.
Am I the first person to smash the TB screen ??? LOL

I also failed to say that due to the damage to the Left side for some reason the case shifted and caused an electrical issue with the power button. The phone would turn on and work but once it went to sleep the phone would not wake. The phone would power off when the screen shut off.
