Root Create Shortcut or Widget for "Menu" Hard Button?

I'm running ApeX along with ADW EX. I seem to be using my hard "Menu" button like crazy, and I'm concerned about wearing the thing out. Does anyone know if its possible to create a shortcut or widget that would perform the same function as the Menu key on the Home screen?

I've had my X since July 1 (yes, 2 weeks early) and I use the menu button a lot, you don't need to worry about wearing it out.
 
those buttons are rather durable, trust me i have hit mine NUMEROUS times, when the menu icon starts to fade off thats when you can start to worry :)
 
Yeah seriously. I mean dumbphones have hard buttons and don't really have any serious problems.

I would not worry about it.
 
I just d/l'd button savior and am surprised that I like it. :)

Thanks for the link. Almost exactly what I'm looking for, though the paid version would seems to be spot on since you can customize the buttons that display.
 
The more I use button savior, the more I like it. I used to like the hard buttons on my X, but since I went to using an otterbox, I like them less. I think I am going to buy the pro version of button savior just to kick a few bucks the developer's way.
