Creating a group for text messages

It IS possible to create a group of contacts for sending a text to a group. This is a little convoluted so stick with me here.


-Contacts
-menu
-create new group
Now, I'm gonna figure you can get your contacts in that group. After that it is a little tricky. Once it is created, the group is NOT in your contacts(yeah, go figure).

SENDING a message to that group:
-Text icon
-new text message
-hit the symbol on the right side of the "To" field
-Menu
-Display group
-pick the group you want
Now is the tricky part:
-you have to press each one in that group to get them in the To field
-Done
-Send

Took me about an hour to figure that one out! Once you do it, it's pretty easy.

If you use handcent you select the group and it adds all the members in the group at once.

I tried handcent. didn't care for it much.

I like it for its customizations.

You can create a different tone, notification icon, background picture, and led color, per contact.
